I accepted that months ago, the most unimaginable suffering I’ve ever seen and yet, the world moved on. I tried to push it out of my mind, I was suicidal at the time and it’s a big reason I ditched the thread for a bit, I couldn’t handle seeing the death, suffering. Here I lived in pure comfort while people buried their children wearing tattered clothes, the shame I felt. I looked into mural aid and protest but ultimately, I realized that no path lead to their safety or freedom, they would become yet another group of people lost to history based on the actions of multiple groups. I want them to be free and have their own sovereignty but I fear the world just will not allow that to happen.

 

I cannot even imagine thinking of asking someone to marry me the day after an election lmao insane behavior regardless of outcome

but in that case the recession probably keeps inflation in check a bit. If people lose jobs and have less money to buy shit, those supply chain issues don’t cause as much inflation as they did because demand is down anyway and etc. Does Biden or Harris do any better with an unemployment rate that’s 7% and an inflation rate that maybe only hits 4 or 5% at its peak? Idk. Would they have done better had the Fed did a Volker and just spike the interest rate high and crush inflation (and the economy) quickly then gradually lower it over time rather than the gradual raise/soft landing approach? Idk, but maybe.

It’s a question a lot of elected pols will be mulling over in their heads the next time they’re debating a big spending bill sadly.

thinking Trump and the GOP will be "better" for the economy in general has been one of the most "i feel like i am taking crazy pills" thing in my lifetime. against all evidence that republicans are seen as "good" on the economy will never make sense to me. ever.
