I was supposed to get my citizenship today (so i can leave in the spring and return to the UK without losing residency) but sadly there was a maintenance issue at the immigration office, and now i have to wait for a reschedule.

Double bummer with the current news - but all the more committed to leaving now. And no, it was never election related. Its not an Im MOVinG to CaNaDa tantrum. Politically the UK has similar issues to reckon with anyway.

 

Politics goes much further than voting, for starters.

As much as I don't want trump to win, the democrats deserved it if they lose for what they are doing to the palestinians and their desire to please war criminals like Dick Cheney, I am still happy I didn't vote for either.

I expect a lot of "didn't think they'd eat my face" moments over the next few years.

Regan level deregulation leading to more preventable deaths seems likely.

I don't think I can handle it the same way I did before, spent too much time on twitter/the news, sat with a low level anxiety the entire time thinking KNOWING would help. I think this time I need to be more active in local politics, find places to help, and not put time into reading about what Trumps doing every moment. It was so unhealthy and I can't live like that again.
