Election Day is a state holiday in New Jersey so I have the day off.

But yeah like others I’d rather have off Wednesday instead. I know that won’t be a productive day lol

Dropped my ballot in the box yesterday.

I really wish I had Tuesday off but I’m just going to hole up in my office with headphones on so I don’t have to listen to anyone, and I’m working from home on Wednesday which will make staying up most of the night to watch the results slightly more doable.

I'm glad I have to work Wednesday because no matter who wins my brother is going to be insufferable.

surely those in power would never purposely make it difficult or impossible for certain segments of the population to even vote at all???

The biggest example of musk turning Twitter into a huge right wing echo chamber I’ve seen is this NYC squirrel thing. A bunch of right wingers on Twitter and Musk himself have been posting memes all day yesterday about how a squirrel just decided the US election and meanwhile I have literally seen nothing about it anywhere else other than some news stories about it. Musk and co. Have convinced themselves there’s a big anti-Democratic party vote coming in because of it lol

idk if this has been shared in here yet but the first 20 minutes of this video are all comprised of names of children. the names move very quickly too. its overwhelming. and this is only 34,000 that have been able to be confirmed, as we know, the real number is unknown and could be 200,000 or more.

 

Does anyone else remember Mono being called the kissing disease and it being seen as like, something you had to keep an eye on for possible complications but generally not a huge deal because everyone typically recovers and you get lifelong immunity and etc?

Us finding out 30 years later (from when I was a kid I mean) that it’s actually the #1 risk factor for MS should be causing a lot of people to side eye the “covid is actually mild and it’s not a big deal if you catch it anymore” stance, especially given how much we already know about long covid. 30 years from now, god knows what these frequent infections will be doing to our bodies.

 

God I hope the country is truly saved by women this time around.

 

This is really the first election where I could vote where I genuinely don't know what to expect.

2008 and 2012 I had no doubts Obama was going to win. 2012 i was so sure Obama had it that I didn't even bother voting.

2016 like many i went in confidently expected Hillary but got the opposite

2020 I went in pretty confident of a Biden win from the polling I saw

2024? I have no fucking clue. Clinging onto reports that Kamala might overperform polling but still no confidence in any outcome at all

 

I would love it if she really came out so far ahead that we know by Wednesday morning, instead of waiting endlessly like last time.

 

I do think it’s possible older women are gonna vote in huge, anti-Trump numbers thanks to Dobbs. Young women are pissed off as it is, but those older women who remember pre-Roe stuff could end up being a deciding factor

 

If those Iowa numbers are truly indicative of what it's gonna look like nationwide.....just wow.
