I'll prob play metaphor after veilguard unless RomSaga sneaks in there. Fantastic slate of end of year games.

 

I'm eyeing Neva, I really liked Gris and it sounds like this one's also real good

 

I have heard almost everybody talk about the insanely long dungeon before the final act

 

I don’t mind you can’t import the exact save but I do mind that some of the hairstyles and character customization options are just absent so I couldn’t make it look exactly like my canon inquisitor. Oh well still made an elf male that romanced Dorian and vowed to stop solas while absorbing the inquisition into the chantry

 

I just feel very weird being called out for not having a consistent opinion about a game for its entire 80 hours duration lmao

Yeah there are some early environments where I just played with the camera to admire the beauty. There's some really awesome stuff to look at.

Man loving the Mage. Combat is fluid and yet also has depth. BioWare cooked

i just dl'ed the beta/demo for Monster Hunter Wilds, character creator is dope as always.

i struggle a bit w the controls in these games, i'm just v not used to it- but other than that it's really impressive so far.
always a good sign when i'm super bummed when the demo ends.

i should go back to Rise in the meantime (talk abt backlog), i barely played that game, its probably been years ((it was a bday present & i'd never played a MH before))

The more I play the more irrationally pissed off I get at Skill Up’s review lol. Like he was wrong about 90% of this game. It’s crazy. It’s even more insane when everyone is heralding him as some beacon of honesty in the gaming review community but imo his review is striking me as dishonest as fuck the further in I get. Like PC gamer and vgc had plenty of criticism but they also pointed out how good a lot of it is too. When you have NOTHING good to say about a game that’s getting 7’s, 8,s and 9’s across the board that’s a huge red flag. I know he claims he didn’t go in wanting to hate this but he didn’t even do the preview himself Austin did it and all of his comments pre release to me sounded like he was really expecting to hate it. My theory? Guy had a thesis statement for the review thought up either before diving in or after a very short time playing and he stuck with that thesis through the entire game which painted his opinion on it before even giving a chance. And I know, who cares it’s one guy, but this one guy is being used to browbeat anyone over the head who thinks the game is good and enjoyable. Like you know how many times I’ve seen people regurgitate the “it sounds like HR is in the room” line in the last few days? Enough to build an army. People keep calling it marvel or Disney or whatever and it’s just not that. Is the writing winning any awards? No of course not. But it’s still good. There’s still some friction at play, I don’t see the happy go lucky mood he referred to, at least not constantly. Don’t even get me started on his takes on the character models. And companions. He thinks none of these companions are interesting. Has he played any BioWare games? These are classic BioWare party members. Even the more middling reviews think the party members are great characters for the most part. Sorry it’s just. Baffling. And people who will never play the game for themselves taking his word as gospel when the game itself is so damn good just irks me to no end. I felt the same way about both his Valhalla and FFXVI reviews. Sometimes he just gets it so bafflingly wrong you have to wonder if he’s worth trusting anymore. And I see people use that word. I don’t really “trust” any reviewers anymore, no when it comes to evaluating if I’m going to make a purchase. I trust every person who posts in this thread (including my block list that I purged) more than anyone who writes reviews for a living lol. Sorry for the rant. Back to courting Lucanis
