Kal Banx my current favorite producer now. I hope he’s cooking a producer album.

Both Westside Gunn's and Freddie Gibbs albums are surprisingly good. I had pretty low expectations after some of their recent work and collabs, but these both seem to be returns to form.

I hit play on the westside gunn album and I was about to make a joke where if I don’t hear a wrestling sample in the first five minutes I’m turning it off

I didn’t even have to wait long lol

  13. "Runway Pieces at the Last Supper" is fucking awesome

And I regret to agree that the Gibbs album is, in fact, pretty good. Better than the last one for sure

  14. I have been thinking a lot about the GOAT/Big Three conversation w/r/t modern mainstream hip-hop, and I can't remember if this conversation was in here or somewhere else, but I'm inclined to agree that when I crunch the numbers, looking at Kendrick, pre-2018 Kanye, Drake, J. Cole, and Tyler...Cole doesn't belong in that conversation. He doesn't have an album that would crack the top 15 of those artists. When you set aside horrible politics and allegations, Kanye probably has the most even though he's obviously not the best rapper in the bunch. Drake had a couple pre-Views. But in terms of current runs? It's easily Kendrick followed by Tyler. That third spot is up for grabs. Push, maybe?

Agreed. None of Tyler's projects have ever landed fully for me.

When it comes to numbers it is probably, like, Drake, Eminem, Kanye lol I’m actually pretty sure they really are the best selling rappers of the last decade or so

  19. I don't think he's exactly there as a rapper, but as a unique, "Albums" type artist in hip-hop, his last four have him on about a good a run as anyone right now

Yeah, that's my bad, I wasn't using "crunch the numbers" to refer to actual sales haha more so critical reception.

Kdot def deserves a spot. I would sooner place Lupe Fiasco, Future, Young Thug, and Vince Staples above Tyler though.

Travis Scott is up there with the younger generation for sure. His numbers are crazy and he’s one of the only stadium acts in hip hop

  22. Staples could be a contender. I'm sticking to Tyler's current run being second in the wider Big Three Hip-Hop Artists conversation. I'm thinking current artists from a critical reception standpoint.

Yeah as much as I love Vince Staples and would put him as one of my favorite rappers he isn’t big enough. No one I know in real life knows him

I definitely wouldn’t put Vince above Tyler. Big Fish is great obviously and I really like Hell Can Wait but most of his projects are just fine. Feel like he’s got such great ability and still has another gear.

  25. He's very consistently good and occasionally great, but I agree that he's kind of let off the gas after S/T.

I would say Earl from a personal standpoint, but he doesn't have the hype the other two have. I really do think Push might round it out (for mainstream artists, anyways).
