Just finished that movie that I won’t name. It was pretty good, but the ending kinda left me wanting more.

“X” is like someone said, “what if we took creepy dissolving old bathtub lady from The Shining and put her in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre set and made that a movie”.

 

I completed my yearly tradition of watching 1 horror film a night over the month of October so here's the list of films I watched!

Pleasantly surprised to see The Substance on Mubi for streaming and a free trial too.

 

So I ended up watching this tonight. It was at the top of my Amazon prime queue randomly so I took it as a sign.

despite calling the creature’s backstory immediately, I really enjoyed it. Stylish and fun.

 

This counts as a horror pick up, right?

 

I loved Don’t Let the Riverbeast Get You so much that I think I’m about to blindly purchase every available Blu-ray of Motern Media’s movies.

Definitely need to check out Don't Let the Riverbeast Get You and Dark Harvest. Did not love The Night House despite thinking it was well-directed, semi-effective, and loving Rebecca Hall. The "Nothing" component kind of did nothing for me, no pun intended. We had homemade pizza and chex mix and drinks and watched Nightbeast last night, lol.

Updated New Nightmare thoughts:
- Love the premise
- Love the returning NOES actors
- The hospital scene is awesome
- The child actor is very annoying and him doing The Shining schtick is not effective
- It's definitely a little slow and there's actually only two real kills in it, lol
- Parts of it feel like a dry run for Scream, sometimes in a good way and sometimes not so much
- I actually liked it this time! Would probably rank it fourth after the original, Dream Warriors, and Freddy's Revenge? But I still don't love it.

Every time I see those movies mentioned, I remember the one guy who worked on the first film that tweeted "These are not people you want to support" lol

 

They keep making them and we do not want them

 

Here's all the horror I was able to convinced my wife to watch with me this Halloween season, ranked by my personal rating. 13 movies in a month is a ton for us:

 

Love seeing someone else maybe enjoy Saw IV lol

 

it had me rolling my eyes here and there as much as any saw movie I've seen so far but tbh not that bad. Some fun traps and I liked getting some backstory for Kramer.

 

rewatched Resurrection. Again, Rebecca Hall is fantastic, as is Tim Roth, and, again, knowing the ending makes the rewatch somehow better. Instead of trying to figure out if David is full of shit, this time I was trying to figure out if he was even real. My initial reading was that everything up until she cuts out the baby from his stomach actually happened, but I think the reading that it was all in Maggie's head is somehow even more tragic. The way she's so overprotective and controlling of her daughter to the point of in a way losing her too, it's a terrifying and gut-wrenching look at ptsd and the lingering effects of domestic abuse. very much worth watching/revisiting
