My parents were both in the military and republicans but mom decided she was out on that a long time ago. She is very religious, but very open minded & subjective about it to the point she cherry picks which messages she aligns with and which she thinks are prejudiced and human-biased. (She has no problem with LGBTQ and doesn’t think it’s her place to judge anyone etc). She realizes that the right is only using Christianity dishonestly to virtue signal prejudices.

it took my dad longer but Donald Trump is where he drew the line because ultimately my dad is a logical human being first and foremost. Dad has a lot of traditional conservative opinions, and economically he still thinks my ideas are “communist” in a derogatory way, but he’s slowly come around to some of the things he shouldn’t be blindly prejudiced against, he sees how openly dishonest Fox News and other conservative media is about preying upon those prejudices, and im proud of his growth.

He definitely still thinks other black people should “work harder” to get out of bad situations though, and doesn’t fully understand why folks don’t wanna sell their souls to the very government oppressing them like he did. One of THOSE black conservatives lol. He does understand that cultural expression is very important to most folks and that just because he permanently code-switched as a survival mechanism doesn’t mean he’s not aware of the racism all around, he just thinks hes special for ignoring it / rising above it / tolerating it so he can get ahead. Sometimes his talking points are like Candace Owens and I can’t stand that shit, completely fully entirely disagree that black people making themselves more palatable to white culture is a solution, I did it my whole childhood but knowing what I know now I think it makes racism worse

had to fire someone and it was a “have security on standby” situation (it went fine) but it was mentally taxing. On his way out he let me know that other people on our team are doing some shady time-theft kinda stuff and I spent a couple hours today looking into it and it might be true so may have to fire 2-3 more!!!

 

I'm sorry to hear that, that really sucks and is an exhausting situation. You should definitely give me their money instead.
