They had us do a mock election in 1996 when I was in like 2nd or 3rd grade and I'm pretty sure I voted for either Pat Buchanan or Alan Keyes in the Republican primary lol. Voted for Clinton in the general

We did mock elections and i voted for Bush in 2000 because my parents said to lol in 2004 i was in 8th grade and voted for Kerry because i thought the kids who liked American Idiot were cool. At some point between those two elections, i had a teacher who gave us a survey to help see if we were republicans or democrats. The questions were:

    1) do you want to stop the terrorists
    2) do you want to help old people

if you answered yes to both, you were a Republican. That teacher got in trouble over that.

Detroit's turn out was 7% lower in 2020 than 2018? That's pretty wild

I was 16 in 2000 and couldn't vote but at the time I thought Gore was an absolutely boring guy.

The irony of Bill Clinton using noted biblical adulterer and murderer King David as justification for genocide is a little too on the nose I dunno

In 12th grade Civics we did a mock election for the Gray Davis recall. I was the only one in class that didn't vote for Schwarzenegger. The teacher, a hardcore Republican, got mad because I voted to not recall even though she didn't present that as an option, yet it clearly was.

My dad has always voted for the Dem presidential candidate as far back as I can remember. The explanation he gave me when I was a teenager was, “I’m a union man, and Republicans will always try to screw over unions.”

My mother never really discussed how she voted, except that she cast her ballot for McCain in 2008, which tracks bc she was openly racist whenever she spoke of Obama.

My neighbor's daughter who is 7 excitedly told me the other day that she's voting for Kamala Harris and then asked me (bald middle-aged white guy) if I'm voting for Trump.

It’s difficult to watch the suffering of all who are oppressed and disenfranchised by imperialism, alongside the repression of free speech and our right to protest in the US. Many of us watch, feeling powerless, while billions of our tax dollars are unconditionally promised to war and destruction.
They’re gunning for a war. And now we have to vote – because this is how we use our voice – and every option is not good enough, full of empty promises and celebrity appeal. Are we allowed to rejoice and rage with our community, speaking to the suffering we witness? Are we allowed to reject the crumbs that are being offered to us by the ruling elite, and demand they do something more with their power? The answer is that we must, and our generation knows it.
