well you gotta follow what the people want, but only if it in the same interests as the major industries that will monetarily support your party platform.

see, you want a big a tent as possible. that way when you say something like, "listen to black women" all attention goes to the most moneyed black women in the tent who represent the whole of black women.

Everytime I think to myself "the old guard is dying the new blood will lead us in a better direction, the right direction" something happens that throws that all out of whack. I really wish the Israel thing wasn't a non starter. There's the military aspect that I reckon will take the longest to change course on (if ever) but I also believe religion has a big part too seeing as how religious the country is and Israel/Jerusalem/Jesus/etc being so ever important to quite a LARGE portion of the country. But as religion becomes less and less important here I hope that part of our relationship with Israel begins to weaken ever more.

The whole Bernie situation is super unfortunate. Bernie would have been been some thing. Hell anyone like Bernie is at least somewhat a step in the right direction. Hes had hype for the longest time and his momentum had only been growing and I think he would have been a great change. That quote you just said is fixing eerie to read and then reread and then sit and ponder because it's.....quite the ugly truth. It reminds me of the whole spiel on immigration and other issues that both parties always run on but never actually do anything about because if they did, they couldn't use those as issues regarding elections. And they need stuff to rile up the bases. Although I do feel certain stuff has only gotten uglier over the years.

thats because the premise itself is flawed. Bernie was old, yet his politics is more progressive than say a Ritchie Torres.

I think another gripe I have with the phrase “single issue” is that people using it think of themselves as taking a high minded, high political iq position, when they’re really showing off their baby brains.

Yeah, I think you get a classic case of “meet the new boss, same as the old boss” in American politics all the time. I feel this way when people talk about the younger conservative tech bro contingency as if they’re punk rock, like Elon or something. Oh, you mean there’s rich guys supporting republicans? The thing that’s been happening for 100+ years?

Politics won’t change meaningfully without mass action from people like you and me, is how i see it. It’s why i always say “vote or don’t vote” or “vote for whoever you want” - voting is just one small part of the equation, if our engagement in politics ends there then we aren’t going to get very far. We need to do bigger, riskier, more direct things.

Our relationship with Israel has little to nothing to do with faith. If it did we would just install a Christian state in the levant. Though there is a handful of politicians who want to incite Armageddon.

It has to do with maintaining a bidirectional quasi-puppet state to further our interests with oil rich nations. Every few years flex Israel's military prowess to keep Iran in check and to also promote sectarian violence among Muslim minority states so there's no unified threat against the West. It also ensures that every decade or so there is a 9/11 type event which again lets us strengthen our presence in the Middle East. Roots of this trace back to Africa, india, and East Asia during western imperialism.

    It's colonialism without the colonies.

That's GONNA have to be a thing now, with Biden and Trump's ages showing their true self. Shit, Bernie compared to them is such a non issue now.

If anything, the younger conservatives are the ones freaking me out. Thanks to Trumpism they feel even MORE emboldened and there is no putting the genie back into the bottle now. Which leads back to moving the overton window more to the center and further right, because they see this as conceding.

As much as I chide Jill Stein and her supporters it's ultimately everyone's personal decision to vote or not and I respect people's decision either way. I'll say this...
    1. it sucks what's happening in Gaza
    2. It sucks it's been happening over a year now
    3. It sucks it's happening in such a close proximity to election time
    4. It sucks the election may hinge on this one issue that the Dems seem to be royally rucking up

Like I said I can only HOPE if she wins she changes course. And if she DOES win I hope and expect them to be held to the fire regarding this issue for however long it takes.
Yeah those evangelicals are fucking nutty man.

Reiterating there being a 9/11 every decade or so is just fucking depressing. "Colonialism without the colonies" sure is an apt description....
