this makes me think of one of my high school history teachers who did an entire lecture about how most of us in the class are not wealthy enough to buy a car and that it likely would not ever make financial sense for many of us to ever buy a brand new car, and then he tried to explain loans and interest rates and how the math of all of that works, and we all just laughed at him and were like "this schmuck must drive a total shit box"
