I already said my piece on moshing and stuff from the Silverstein side show. But The Devil Wears Prada on Saturday was a whole different issue…

I was in the Verizon vip viewing area (half of the front barricade like the other stages and maybe 10 ft deep) - I’m “blue shirt” as I became known to everyone around me (iykyk). I’ll speak only on the crowd surfers.

The crowd surfers on the GA side were kicking and flailing and had horrible surfing etiquette. But then you had the surfers on the vip carve out side… I don’t think they realized the vip area was there and, more importantly, that it wasn’t full/packed by any means. The back barricade between ga and vip had at least a 1-2ft gap of empty space to where people were standing, PLUS there were metal ledges where security would normally stand on. Basically it was a death trap. And guess what? ZERO SECURITY WATCHING IT.

So I’m in the back center corner and we’re all watching the show, and out of nowhere a surfer barrels over the barricade and the guy in front of me just barely tries to catch him in time and they both fall down. The surfer then gets into the guys face and yelling that he could’ve broken his neck and they get pulled apart and he keeps yelling so I step in between and repeatedly scream that “no one was there” until others dragged him away and held me back. Literally seconds away from coming to blows. Still no security.

So now I’m basically acting as security (and no longer able to watch the set) - I’m warning people on the ga side of the barricade if a surfer is coming, redirecting surfers to the dense ga side, and straight up shutting down a few trying jump up close to the barricade. A couple of women decided to surf and there was nothing I could do but have them literally fall into my arms and carry them away to avoid smashing onto the floor or metal ledges. 1-2 other people would try to help me, but I essentially became responsible for the safety of these people.

A security guy finally wandered over towards the end of the set, but still was doing pretty much jack shit and at that point I was in pain so I had to step aside. Many people thanked me and offering me things like water and bracelets and I turned it all down because I wasn’t doing it for me.

But it was a really shitty situation and it put a random guy (me) as the only thing stopping people from getting seriously injured.

The admin on the FB group said WWWY didn’t seem likely but could still happen depending on revenue (which I’m sure they had no issue with). He also said it would probably be one day, which I can see happening since Sunday didn’t sell out. I have to imagine that Warped will indeed be different enough to avoid overlap but I don’t know anything. Guess we’ll find out soon.

Maybe WWWY will announce a couple bands when their presale starts.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

They should book Bad Luck 13 next year if it happens

John // OC now, OH forever.

Yeah, this is already a festival that people travel for and they'd just be competing with themselves knowing that Warped Orlando is three weeks after these dates.

I'm thinking warped won't have crazy huge gets like Paramore or my chemical romance. So as long as warped tour stays in the medium size band range. Wwwy can continue as long as there the big emo headliner fest

This explains why on Sunday, right after We Are The In Crowd, a lot of security arrived at the tent. Before there were like 3, and then for Prada there were like 10

Could be interesting if they did one day the same weekend as SNW. Probably get overlap there and build expenses etc reduced

Had a good time but stayed out way too late the night before and i ended spending a good bit of the day anxious and tired and just out of it, ending with leaving early, a little into FOB.

Still saw a lot of good sets. I went sunday and it was def way less crowded than prior years but i also did vip for the first time which was great.

I enjoyed senses fail, tdwp and the starting line the most. I didnt realize how few i knew some of the albums.

I personally dont think id go again but im also over vegas this year. Drank and partied too much and its left me wrecked mentally. I dont do well with excessive partying at all now. Rough comedowns.

Why does John sound so bad too? I feel like I root for them as a band and as people, but how are they so bad live still? This is a band that tours a lot, and if they weren’t into it, would’ve given up a long time ago.

I mean there’s a major act still available for 2025. We don’t need to go down that rabbit hole but there’s still a possibility

Some people at this had no concert etiquette at all. I was near the front of the stage for ADTR and during if it means a lot to you, I could barely hear the song because this group of girls were talking so damn loud

I'm still a little upset about there being no women staff at any of the medical tents / no place to go to for support after being nearly groped by someone during SOTY. I've tried reaching out to the festival but no response.

Holy shit the purple stage crowd on day 2 was a SHIT SHOW, and so dangerous.

My friend really wanted to get up close to MCR on day 2, so we waited in the Purple Stage pit starting at 3pm and by the time PTV came on at 6PM the crowd was packed closer than sardines. We were maybe 20-ish rows from the front and against the VIP/GA divider, but people were constantly being carried out by medics/security. Eventually people started jumping the barricade to get out because it was so packed and impossible to move an inch without bumping someone and security didn't even stop them or escort them out. By ADTR, security had completely checked out, stopped handing out water, and whiffed on multiple medical incidents.

I left midway through FOB because my feet hurt like hell and I knew that it would be impossible to have fun in such an overcrowded environment. Decided to go watch MCR's set from FOB's pit area after it empited which had a lot more room to breathe, plus better sightlunes and more space to sit down.

Moral of the story, being "up front" at a concert is not worth it if it costs your ability to enjoy the concert. Who cares if you post a video 20 feet from the stage, if you're in harms way and not having fun LEAVE.
