I've never understood the hate that TBB gets with its production. I think it sounds great.

 

It sounds horrible

 

I've learned to tolerate it because the songwriting is otherworldly but it is awfully mixed. Drums are blown-out with little impact, guitars are buried, vocals are scratchy, none of it serves the songs. If these songs weren't as good I'd have never returned to it.

 

when I first heard the album when it leaked I thought it was something recording it through their speakers and uploading it online, come to find when I bought the album and listened, the quality was just as bad.

 

It really does sound like those 96kbps leaks we use to get

 

I like listening to TBB

 

I like TBB but my biggest criticism is they named a song The Dope Beat and talked it up a lot…..it’s easily the worst song on the album. Mid af LL song

I think the worst song on the album is The Priest and Used Cars

 

Touche that song is meh too

 

Pheromone Cvlt tho is a very underrated song imo

 

I thought the live rendition of it was better than the recorded version of it. Don’t know if you or anyone caught that one when they were touring on the album back in 2014, but it was cool that they played it more reserved and made it more dynamic

 

Dope beat is awesome

 

It would be cool if they put out some new music picking where they left off. I think it’s cool Jason got the opportunity to do FEVER with Travis and Feldy. It would be cool to see what he would do with everyone he’s learned in a much more DIY space with the dudes for Letlive.

 

TBB is an incredible record front to back but that production was terrible and effectively hurt the songs.

I’m dying to hear this remaster.

 

TBB SHOULD have been one of the biggest records in the scene at that time - Banshee was a monster of a first single. Catchy, aggressive, danceable...hoping this remaster gets TBB the appreciation that's due

 

yeah I was on the warped tour in 2013 when that album came out and no band on the tour was more hyped. Warped tour was rolling out the red carpet for them. They played main stage a ton, they had big crowds every day. Should have been a smash

 

yup same - met the band and they were incredible, even comparably. People were just stopping by to peek at Jason's antics. And with some of the features he was doing at that time, I would have imagined a bigger splash.

 

Yeah honestly that PTV feature is what got me into letlive. Big time “whoa who the heck is that” vibes when I first heard Tangled in the Great Escape. Still holds up.

think I saw something on altpress in 2011 about fake history

then I saw them live for the first time on tour with Prada, ETID and Oh Sleeper the next spring I think

 

had tickets to see them twice after that - once on a small venue tour with ETID - Jason punched a window or something the night before in Amarillo or something and missed the Oklahoma City show

then they were on tour with the wonder years and Jason was sick so he missed that show too

 

Didn’t get into them until January 2013 when I saw them open for Underoath’s farewell tour that also featured mewithoutYou and As Cities Burn and I thought letlive stole the show. Absolutely brought it that night. I bought a Fake History cd, met Jason briefly, and was obsessed with them for a couple years since then

Would love it if they came back and did more stuff, but hopefully better than the last album

Letlive was a cred band imo. they’re like MWY. in a genre but reaching so far beyond it artistically. every band in the scene loved them and their fans were die hard but the reach wasn’t there. I am happy he got a chance with FEVER to articulate himself in a meaningful way. Would love even an ep from letlive today though.

 

Banshee ghost fame is a pretty bad song tho

who was that obnoxious AP.net reviewer back in the day that reviewed this? I remember him basically saying if Empty Elvis was your favorite song on the album you’re stupid, because it was the song most similar to Fake History and that was beneath them now.
