I usually try to go see Paramore at least a few times every touring cycle since they tend to only tour for like 1 or 2 years and then stop for 3 or 4. But I usually pick like one show to go all out for, and then just get cheaper tickets at other shows. For This Is Why I went to the pre-album show at Chicago Theater (although arguably that doesn't count), and then saw them at Adjacent Fest, got floor tickets in Columbus, and then nosebleeds in Milwaukee. But ya Columbus is the only one where I could say I had one of the better spots in the venue.

I don't think there's really a moral high ground on this though. It's really just kind of preference, if Chrissie Hynde doesn't want you to be front row at multiple shows, maybe just sit a few rows back instead? In general I think being at the very front is given way too much weight. Definitely more about status than actually being an enjoyable experience for a lot of people.

In fairness if I had the money and the time to follow Silent Planet for the West coast leg of every tour I probably would, so I mean in some ways I get both sides of the argument. Idk.

Only bands I've gone and seen multiple dates for was The Wonder Years, but I also don't go up to the barricade anymore so I guess I don't have much of a say in this. I feel like if you're going to follow a tour just switch it up.

Yeah TWY TGG tour was the only time I've gone to multiple dates on a tour. Definitely worth it.

John // OC now, OH forever.

There are definitely a subset of fans who, to use a wrestling term, are trying to "get themselves over" and be part of the show. It's one thing to attend every show by an artist in your city, it's another to attend every show by an artist on their tour.

    Are You Watching Closely?

Yall are wild. I love TBS, their first 3 albums were just as important to me as everyone in here, and I still only saw them one night when they did the back to back album coin flip tour haha

if i was going to see multiple dates it would pretty much only be someone who switches the setlist up

    Bringin the ruckus

This was a big problem/drama in the MCR fandom during their last tour with people going to multiple shows (which I did) and taking over the barricade (which I didn't do because I'm too old for that). I love going to multiple shows on a tour but only for artists who mix up their setlists, if it's the same show every night then I just go to one.

I’ll do multiples shows for a tour if they’re near me and within reasonable driving distance, depending on the artists of course (FOB and Motion City mostly)

It's literally not a question of going to multiple shows like a normal person – y'all are missing the point. All these fandoms have just become giant pick-me games and people vying to be seen as the biggest fan ... traveling to every city and camping for every show and crying if they're not on the barricade ... that is super unhealthy.

The craziest thing is they're mostly adults who should be fully developed and have an understanding that what they're doing is not healthy.

last year i saw viagra boys 3 times in a week (riot fest, after show + a local date 4 days later). my rational was that they are international, so no telling when the next time theyd be back was, and i doubt they noticed me a single time, haha

The only time I have seen a band multiple dates during one tour was when Twenty One Pilots did the Takeover tour in Chicago. They mixed the setlist a little, but it was also a chance to see an arena band playing small venues.

BUT, I remember there were some fans who went to see the tour in different states and somehow they always have a spot saved at the front of the line.

Yeah, good point, there is a difference between just going to multiple shows and trying to the the ultimate Stan by whatever definition (barricade, waiting in line, Apple dance, etc.). Most wild examples in this scene I’ve seen have been Twenty One Pilots + Waterparks campers, and those seem more extreme than just going to a few shows

Yeah it’s about what people are doing. You can read between the lines, the people she’s talking about aren’t just going to multiple shows, they are being annoying / creepy / assholes / etc. I assure you if you want to give an artist money they will take it. But the entitlement that seemingly comes with a lot of these groups is the problem.

I might see them twice if I can, knowing I might not see them again for a decade judging by how much longer the breaks between touring and new music they take with every new album cycle. I can't imagine how ridiculous trying to get tickets it's going to be when they come back.

Ya know I rarely say this about anything, but it should stay dead. This isn’t gonna be warped tour. It’s gonna be wwwy in other cities with headliners. It just won’t have the same spirit. It’s a cash grab and that’s it.

I totally agree, but I also went to warped 25 and the first year of wwwy. A soulless cash grab *can* sometimes win me over with a strong lineup.
