Can someone who’s more familiar with the Hispanic culture explain this to me? I would have always assumed that this voter block would lean Democratic due to immigration reform, as I’m assuming a good portion of their families may have immigrated here.

I don’t understand the support for Trump after all the terrible things he’s said about Hispanics. Is it a toxic masculinity thing?

On a long enough timeline, immigrant populations often will eventually break along class lines and/or geographic trends like all other voters. Efforts to replace that with identity politics seldom if ever work.

So there is a few things that are generalizations for the broad Latino bloc. They are typically more ardently religious and in the cases of Cubans and what I would assume Venezuelans amongst others is that those that have immigrated to America are leaving "socialist/communist" governments and the propaganda of Democrats being socialist is more effective. I would also say you get people who say they immigrated the right way and that seems to drive them toward being anti-immigration. Though for the last point both parties have become pretty much the same policy wise but propaganda wise Republicans really hammer that bullshit.

Everything I've read basically points to it being a combo of a bunch of different things, from toxic masculinity to "oh he's a businessman" to the good ole American virtue of i've got mine now let me pull the ladder up behind me, to the fact that many are religious and can have some socially conservative views due to that, and of course the point that as a demographic they're not a monolith, to the point where some identify as "white", and immigrants from different central/south american countries that are here tend to have different views, i.e. all the Cubans here being very anti "socialism" and all the fear mongering the Repubs did in Miami in 2020 around that issue and etc

 

The religiousness of Latinos is really astronomically high compared to the American general public and even inside that its Catholic that is the very dominant denomination.

Black folks have high religiousness rates but it trends towards the older age groups and their dominant denomination is Protestant if I remember correctly when I looked at this years back.

 

I live in a heavy Mexican area and I am a quarter Mexican myself. Culturally they’re very conservative/religious and really the only republican talking point they’d be against is immigration- however there are tons of Mexicans that talk about how they made it here “the right way” and are still in support of stronger borders. If republicans weren’t so blatantly racist they’d have massive Latino support

 

you have to look about an hour after sunset so closer to 7-730 to look west/southwest. there is an app called Night Sky that uses your phones camera and gyroscope to show you all the stars and constellations and has an AR feature that overlays with your camera and it has this comet featured so you know where to look for it.
