Unless he's speaking solely to Presidential elections, this isn't really accurate.

He thinks people protesting the anthem is a problem with our country?! Wasn't our country founded on the idea that we can do shit like that?

Earlier in the post, he says the now "not-silent majority" should scare liberals. this is like real nazi shit to me and I'm freaking out during my break between students right now

What I think this misses, and it was seen in the election where Trump improved upon Romney's latinx numbers, is the extent to which other ideas mediate the message of diversity and inclusion, particularly among populations that have achieved some degree of class privilege.

  6. Those exit polls saying that look wrong now that the actual numbers are in, the real % should be in over the weekend. Latinodecisions has been tweeting about this.

Bottom line is: four more years and I'll be able to run for president. When they ask me about all of my references to "crackers", I'll say that's just how we talk.

God, the constant posting I see about the electoral college is making me facepalm. Talk about chasing a rabbit you can't catch down the wrong hole.

    1. How will you ever convince someone from Wyoming or Idaho to eliminate a system that gives their voice weight so they aren't drowned out by California?
    2. Do you know how hard it is to pass an amendment?
    3. Why would a party currently in power, who the EC JUST worked for, change it? Democrat or Republican. Won't happen.

The EC may be bullshit but it's a waste of time and capital to chase. There are two years until the midterms. Four until the next election. Can't be wasting any time. Somehow the goal has to be winning over the people in those states, not changing the weight of their vote

Can somebody explain to me what the alt-right is? An actual, serious explanation.

  17. Alternative Right
The Alternative Right, commonly known as the Alt-Right, is a set of far-right ideologies, groups and individuals whose core belief is that “white identity” is under attack by multicultural forces using “political correctness” and “social justice” to undermine white people and “their” civilization. Characterized by heavy use of social media and online memes, Alt-Righters eschew “establishment” conservatism, skew young, and embrace white ethno-nationalism as a fundamental value.

Honest question, is this not what we wanted from the media? To acknowledge that this shit exists. To name it and call it what it is. The interviewer is not apologetic there.

Thank you. I unfortunately stumbled across their subreddit and it left me confused. It almost struck me as satire. Gross.

  23. One more plug for those that do get involved in protest groups and the like. Please recommend to everyone that they use something like Signal for communication. Do not use Allo, Facebook messaging, email that isn't using PGP, or anything that is not end to end encrypted.

The alt-right is a segment of right-wing ideologies that reject mainstream conservatism in the United States. It is largely Internet-based and found on websites such as 4chan and 8chan, where anonymous members create and use Internet memes to express themselves. It is difficult to tell how much of what people write is serious, and how much is intended to provoke outrage. The alt-right uses social media like Twitter and Breitbart News to convey their message.

Generally alt-right postings support Republican President-elect Donald Trump, and oppose immigration, multiculturalism and political correctness. The alt-right has no formal ideology, although various sources have stated that white nationalism is fundamental. It has also been associated with white supremacism, Islamophobia, antifeminism, homophobia, antisemitism, ethno-nationalism, right-wing populism, nativism, traditionalism, and the neoreactionary movement. The alt-right is an umbrella term. The movement has been associated with multiple ideologies from American nationalism, neo-monarchists to men's rights advocates and people who oppose mainstream conservatism.
