I Know What You Did Last Summer is such a dumb fun 90s blast. Kind of wish I had seen it as a kid to have some of the nostalgia to go with it. “High school mug shots? What?”

Not sure what it’s called but it’s the apartment complex that you enter in the otherworld right after meeting pyramid head head. I’m not okay.

so Smile 2 is pretty nuts. way more brutal and edge of your seat than the first one and a better protagonist imo. some really inspired sequences throughout but still a few cheap jumpscares that don't really land

shoutout to the cameramen because damn some of the best camera work I've seen all year, the opening scene especially is wildly good

It was one of the first Scary Movies I could watch as a kid and not be terrfied because I was a little older by then, like 10/11ish, somewhere in there. Same with Scream. So I always loved it, definitely a lot of nostalgia.

Did ANOES and Demons so far this week. One thing I always forget about in ANOES is how evident the stunt double is at the end when Freddy catches fire and runs around the house. All of a sudden, he is the size of an nfl linebacker haha. Always a great time though and while it was just a one and done, it did tempt me to do a series runthrough.

  23. I've been showing my friends horror movies for a couple years now and they seem to not handle the scarier ones as well but the fun ones are okay. I was planning on showing them a list of mystery picks but knowing now where their limits are i think i might change the list from what i'd originally planned. so, uh, help me out here. on a scale from one to three, three being the scariest, rank each of the following:
    The Night House
    Resurrection
    Bones and All
    Barbarian
    Malignant
    X
    Pearl

  24. The Night House - 2 (don't really remember)
Resurrection - 3 (more disturbing than scary)
    Bones and All - 1
    Barbarian - 3
    Malignant - 2
    X - 3
    Pearl - 1

I very rarely get scared by movies, so I'm not sure about rating them

The Night House - Not sure I can say how scary this was but I really liked it at the time.
Resurrection - This one is pretty creepy tonally and in Tim Roth's performance. The ending is pretty gross too as I recall
Bones and All - Not scary as it's more of a road trip, coming of age romance, but it's got some gory cannibalism throughout
Barbarian - Pretty scary, at least in the beginning
Malignant - Not scary at all. It's funny/campy
X - Scary if you have a thing about old people
Pearl - Not scary but maybe unsettling
