Yikes, my coworker lives in St Petersburg, 25 mins from Tampa. Thankfully he's stranded out of state right now since all Tampa flights were cancelled today. Glad he's safe, but hope his home will be ok.

Tampa General Hospital is crazy. They stupidly decided to build Tampa's main hospital on literal island right next to the water like 100 years ago and now they have to have all these state of the art engineering workarounds so it doesn't get destroyed in a hurricane.

i'm sorry is the point of politics, even confined to the bourgeois US system, about winning elections or pushing your own ideological backed policy?

 

I know "the hurricanes are going to disrupt elections in red states!" Is a Republican meme, but I do think it going to have an effect on Florida. Trump is only up +5 in the FL polling, mail in ballots (which favor dems) went out last week, and I realistically see hundreds of thousands of Republicans on the west coast of Florida just not voting on 11/4 because they got bigger material things to worry about.

Most people I know who are planning on voting Kamala already voted.

 

Winning elections, 100%. That's where the money is.

Actually it's more about running in elections. Winning is just a nice-to-have. Losing lets you ask for even more money next time.

 

Eh, if Kamala loses her Presidential aspirations are dead. Essentially she's politically irrelevant as a Democratic figurehead.

She's coming off so "Clinton-esque" but less savvy. And that's certainly not a compliment.

She needs to win, we really can't withstand the Conservative Justices stepping down and being appointed 2 young MAGAs in their place.
