Hey! The overlap between the right and left! I got yelled at for pointing that out.

Trump is seemingly backing out of many of his extreme campaign promises... Wow. Can't say I'm surprised at all. What will his supporters say?

Even if he does walk back everything he campaigned on, it'll only further energize those who supported him.

  9. Don't. The desire for the press to normalize this will be extreme. It should be historically obvious what he's going to do next: try and make the trains run on time.

  11. I like how Trump's big stimulus was never mentioned beyond vagueness about infrastructure

Just saw on FB a back & fourth between two old high school friends. She (a Jewish woman) posted a link to how to handle/deal with any incident you see in public regarding sexism/racism/homophobia/Islamophobia in the wake of Trump's win. My other friend (a Taiwanese Christian conservative man) immediately starts questioning the legitimacy of such claims of actually happening and that such a small sample size shouldn't paint Trump voters as evil. It's a civil conversation while she has a hard time figuring out his argument. But just on his history of posts and comments (I believe he actually backed Cruz during the primaries), it's just that he is in complete denial especially since he is a POC himself. And it's a shame cause he's usually a smart guy and the only mutual thing we've shared over the years is Simpsons references.

He is backpedaling on repealing Obamacare and the building of the wall.

And now expanding the debt (as he lines his associate's and possibly even his pockets) will be a positive.

that's one way to look at it. and may be true. another: they're noncommittal because they have no actual plans.

  16. You know you could almost forgive them having no plans seeing as no one ever thought they'd win for months, and realistically ever, but then you remember they never had any plans. So bad.

  21. No. Newt just said he didn't think Trump could get Mexico to pay for it. And the Obamacare stuff is actually things he said before about keeping in, including by the way he once even advocated for the mandate. He has held basically every position imaginable so this isn't surprising. But he's definitely not, as you say, backpedalling.

Nope. People like to talk about HRC like she's a piece of shit when literally her less qualified counterpart has done some of the exact same things.

This is so important. We have seen it time and again. A white man does something and it's excused. A person of color is accused of something and is crucified.

I don't find the popular vote comforting. It's not a big enough margin that makes me feel like a large portion of this country is the worst of humanity. (I honestly don't know what that would be at this point)

There is an argument to be made, but they are mostly a figurehead. I actually think you should have chairs that all help lead. I think when it's one person it's too easy to write them off versus having a diverse leadership team and a movement.

    So much
