that's not how that works. and the popular vote is like right there.

 

on top of everything else, I blame Hillary's campaign for not choosing a more exciting VP. I was hoping at the time for Julian Castro or even Cory Booker to help excite people more to get out and vote. but she chose white bread instead.

And sure, that probably helped her get Virginia, but I argue that Castro could have helped her get Florida and get closer in AZ and TX at the very least. possibly winning one of those

 

Yeah I don't know how much of a difference it would have made, but they really screwed up going with the milquetoast white guy who, outside of being a seemingly nice guy who could speak Spanish, had zero memberable qualities. No charisma whatsoever.

Could you imagine Booker or Castro or a woman in that debate with Pence? The differences would have been so easy to see...literally.

Only going to get worse in some states. MIssouri passed a voter ID law with this election.

 

The fact that they almost lost Virginia with kaine as their VP pick is an embarrassment

 

Without a doubt, Castro or Booker should have been the pick. Kaine was the blandest guy whose only recognizable quality was he spoke fluent Spanish. It also didn't help that he was easily mistakable for Pence to the laymen.

I think understating the excitement that could have been gained with a latino/hispanic VP candidate in extremely diverse TX is a mistake. I do believe that it could have been possible to flip TX and or AZ.

I'm not saying that just because he is brown people would have voted for them instead of trump, but I do think that getting a candidate on the ballot that is more representative of a specific race/identity would have definitely increased turnout, and due to the higher turnout they would have taken at least AZ.

 

Honestly forgot about Tim Kaine, which kind of proves a point, heh.

 

and maybe that was what they thought would work, by getting a white guy who is religious on the ticket we'll win over the white religious moderates..

the so called principled voters voted for someone with absolutely no principles.

 

tim kaine should not be a large part of the democratic party moving foward. he's fine where he is. keep him around but we don't need to hear from him any more. I think that's the wrong way to go from this.

 

It's most likely because most people forgot Kaine existed most of the time. He was just kinda there.

 

It was a shitty plan from the start that my fellow left-wing friends tried to convince me was a good idea because it was "a safe bet." But damn, when The Onion can't make a solid joke about your personality, you've fucked up.

 

plus Castro would have put a face on the assaults from the right about immigrants, mexicans, the wall.

I am convinced now that that would have made a difference. and we would be celebrating right now.


and I know that trump and or pence would have said something to someone on camera about him being mexican and wanting to see his birth certificate.

 

Yeah I don't mind Kaine in the senate as a guy who can campaign for future presidential candidates in Virginia...but that's about it for him.

I think that if Hillary picked Warren as her VP there is a good chance she would have run. Like everyone is saying, Kaine was a boring pick and clearly didn't even help her in Virginia. Warren, being a progressive champion to many would have shown that Hillary was serious about cracking down on Wall Street and other things. The only question would be is would the republicans who backed Hillary in the election still vote for her with her VP pick being further left. But, Hillary would certainly have persuaded many of the Bernie supporters who refused to vote for Hillary to actually vote for her. I think the enthusiasm among voters would have went up which was clearly lacking for her and played a key part in why she lost.
