the element thing was kind of confusing at first, but you get the hang of it. Some glitches so far, but not a bad experience. Really dig the art style too.

good call, it could definitely use some polishing up

 

One really great feature of The Plucky Squire is accessibility options and the choice to skip boss fights. Also, the physics of using the book and jumping in and out of it to solve puzzles is very cool. The mini-games are pretty fun and are love letters to Mike Tyson’s Punchout, Bubble Bobble and rhythm games.

 

I finally resumed Alan Wake II and am likely almost done with it (got the endgame message at least so idk how much is after that). I really really love it. I love how dark it is while still being stupid and campy. I love how much it wears the Twin Peaks influence on its sleeve without feeling like a total ripoff. I do think if I finished it when it came out it would've been my personal GOTY that year.

 

this is so sucky because I have a half finished save on my Switch I sold but I don't think I can get through the first half of the game again, as good as it is.

 

Doesn’t really have anything to do with what you said, but you just reminded me of the days when the local video stores would have N64s that you could rent. I remember the one time hearing a kid slightly older than me asking if it had the Expansion Pak and the dude behind the counter had no idea wtf he was talking about. That shit definitely wouldn’t fly these days. Lol

But yeah having to restart a game because you lost access to that save or something is painful. It just feels so tiring to redo. Yet somehow it’s okay to replay a game you’ve already beaten though. Lol

 

Things like this make me glad I don't play games until years later, so I get the best and fullest possible experience.
