I’m in the final 50 days of marathon training, so I’ve got LOTS of listening time built into my runs for the next month. It’s not out of the question that I’ll finish all of them by October, haha.

    Yaaaa buddy!!
For me the book was kind of a slog but wow that ending was insaneeeee

  5. I thought it moved better than Well of Ascension. A few slow parts, but I wonder if that's because I clocked a lot of the reveals early this time. Still ended up giving it five stars on Goodreads.

Ah! I was thinking it was WoA, oops. Ya HoA is wild the entire time. So many fake outs and new wrinkles and threads coming together. Glad you liked it!

Way of Kings is just so insanely on another level as a series starter. What a damn book.

Her arrival sequence at the Shattered Plains in Words of Radiance, from the time she steals Kaladin's boots until she meets Dalinar, is just... so cringe inducing compared to how much better the rest of the characters are.

That being said, she has some of the most interesting plot arcs in the series sometimes. I love her arc in WoK. And anything else we can learn about the Ghostbloods I always love.

Highly recommend not going for a run during Adolin’s duel. Completely blew up my pace and training cycle.

Not Sanderson related, but I was rowing during a particularly intense horror scene and my HR shot to like 180 lol.

I can only imagine doing a Sanderlanche while training intensely. Could be a very good or very bad idea.

Matt Dinniman is also going to be there now, so you've got to get in and get all the DCC loot, thanks.

Halfway through Oathbringer in my Stormlight re-read. I think I can finish everything before the new book comes out. Probably going to skip the novellas this time.

Slowly making my way through my reread / listen. I am finding I can listen at work to Words of Radiance as I've read it several times and am okay if I slightly drift focus so that'll help me get through this one quicker. I will not do that for Oathbringer (read once), or Rhythm of War (haven't read). I'm confident I'll still be ready on release for 5. If I finish WOR before months end, that's a month each for 2 more books and a novella... doable...

I've always been lukewarm(ish) on Sanderson except for a couple of books, but man... TWOK clicked hard on my reread and I'm fully on board now. The last 200 pages are just insane.... I always loved words of radiance but was meh on Oatherbringer. We'll see if I like it more on the reread and how I feel on ROW. But I liked TWOK on this read way more than I did the first time.

I'm not fully caught up on all things cosmere, and I'm not going to worry about it, but when I'm done with TAW (whenever that is), I'll read comments and see what connections / implications it had so I know where to go next.

I know that 5 is going to end the first chapter and it was always two sets of 5, but from what I understand, there will be a mistborn era 3 and 2 elantris books before more stormlight, so after December, like 10 years before book 6? Ha.

The Way of Kings is, for my money, Sanderson's best work, followed closely by Words of Radiance. I am mostly out on him at this point, but those two will always be worth a re-read for me.

Kinda dreading my Rhythm of War re-read. It got wayyy too into explaining its magic systems and a lot of it was pretty dull. Maybe I'll change my mind now that I have a better idea of what's going on.

Plenty of people in here love what comes next. So, there is no reason to lose excitement if you are really digging it.

And for what it is worth, I do enjoy most of Oathbringer. Just not to the level of the other two. Rhythm of War is where my enjoyment mostly ceased. But again, I'd say that mine is a minority view. So keep the faith.

About halfway through Oathbringer on my re-read. It’s great. It just has the unfortunate task of following two of the best fantasy books ever.

I can forgive RoW's slowness because it seems to be setting up a some really big things in Stormlight 5.
