  1. The problem was that any time she did anything else it got NO coverage. At the start of the campaign she gave all these policy speeches and was releasing ads and very detailed policy proposals on a daily basis. It wasn't covered at all. He'd have all his rallies on 24/7 on TV and she'd get the little corner. Until she attacked him or they could run a "controversy" story about her that is.

  3. Yeah if Obama was like "actually I'm gonna stay" I'd probably be way more glad than upset

  5. I don't know much about Castro. I've heard Booker is pretty terrible behind the scenes. Is anyone already sold on either and why?

Gimme Keith Ellison or Tulsi Gabbard.

I'll miss Obama dearly. Don't agree with a lot of shit he did and/or didn't do, but at least he was a real human being who at least appeared/felt genuine; his family is great too.

Also, simply put, after Bush it was a breath of fresh air to have a President that was articulate. Now we're back to getting nonsense like "I went to an Ivy League school; I have words, I use words" or whatever the hell it was.

  7. It's exactly what you would expect basically. I ... I dunno my thoughts are no it doesn't.

I thought she might try to tab him as her VP to counter the Trump effect but I don't think it was considered so I was way off

Exactly. Don't say it's not possible when we just saw it happen on the right. If we abandon principles in the name of unity it very well could happen

I don't think this is necessarily true. There a lot of lessons to be learned from Trump and Clinton, but also how they fit into larger historical arcs. I don't think policy has to be thrown to the wind to have a viable candidate, but you have to have someone who, fair or not, appears to believe what they support and can convey why they support it.

This is not a joke and the one part of the campaign, as a straight white dude, that will directly effect me. When Obamacare gets repealed I am going to lose my health insurace. The provision that lets me stay on my parents coverage is part of that bill. without it I don't have coverage, and without the state exchange I likely won't be able to afford it.

i have heard many awful things about booker in recent years. he seems much more in the clinton mold than anything else, which i think is a problem for the dnc moving forward.

  14. Yeah, I refuse to watch him on TV. Like if I'm in a room and someone turns it on, I'm leaving. I despise that man.

Can you imagine him trying to address the nation after a crisis? Jesus this is going to be bad.

I thought I read somewhere that that part of the bill is protected and even when Obamacare is repealed, the 26 rule will stay in effect. I could be wrong though.

  22. Not wrong. Probably not going to change though.

The media was certainly awful this election and made it tough on the campaign, and obviously this is all in hindsight, but it seemed like a strategic mistake to try to aim for more coverage by running negative ads on Trump, as that still centers Trump, rather than trying to sell a vision to people through ads that centered Clinton and her policies. I think there's a significant segment, not a majority or even plurality but a significant portion, of the voting population that is far less policy focused as people want to believe and they just want to buy into something and Trump gave them that.

Seriously, can we split the state up into thirds? The northern and southern thirds can go to Iowa and Arkansas, and we just have a strip from KC to STL along I70 and we'd be pretty okay.
