I don’t really need to lesson plan, I don’t grade at home, I take it pretty easy lol

 

I have some kneejerk distrust for WFH, mainly about the idea of people’s home life intermingling with work life, employer’s spy shit being now in the home, and people becoming further atomized at a time when we could really benefit from having people work in closer proximity to each other. But… it also obviously is better for a lot of people on individual levels and the fact that a lot of big employers want people to return to work in person is probably somewhat indicative of an advantage they feel to having people there so naturally feel like I should be opposed to that for whatever agenda they have.

 

My company is currently trying to force me back in and no joke it would cost me an extra like $30k because of new daycare costs and travel costs.

 

I think the big trade off between elementary and high school is you almost definitely get less down time during the work day than HS teachers, but I almost always have to grade at home because I have 130+ students and need to grade free response questions and shit lol

 

WFH is ideal for me as it helps on days where my depression is really bad and being productive is a struggle. Can more easily take breaks and work when I’m capable.

additionally my line of work isn’t conducive to offices where distractions slow everything down. The majority of companies thankfully recognize that and barely ask for more than hybrid. Those that want all on site are not compromising so fuck them
