  3. I don't think we'll ever truly know what that Comey letter did. But in my mind, it did a lot.

Not sure who the savior could be in 4/8 years. Hoping Castro but not sure if he's revolutionary enough.

There wasn't a mass exodus on the left from Clinton. Fucking Noam Chomsky was out there saying people should vote her. More importantly, forty-nine percent of the electorate just stayed home. Offered the option, most people just said no to the whole process because they didn't see a point. We can talk about how to engage people in politics in a number of ways, ways which would counter the Trump coalition, but blaming third party voters isn't going to help defend ourselves from what it is forthcoming. Bottom line: this is the fault of the DNC and Hillary, and the elites to whom they swore allegiance. They saw the map the way they wanted to, not the way it actually was.

    Yep all of this

  11. I don't even know what the "uniter" will be. Climate change? That's not winning the rust belt states at all.

  12. Well, specifically, many more Democrats stayed home than Republicans. And I actually disagree with the "didn't see a point" as the main reason — I think there were lots of reasons, and it would be reductive to try and boil it down to just one.

tens of thousands of voters voting third party in battleground states is an issue to me

    given the beyond dire circumstance

  15. If Wisconsin and North Carolina specifically don't address the voter suppression stuff in the next four years, we're in big trouble no matter what the candidate. The long lines in specific places hurts democrats - specifically and (as they admitted) purposefully.

Yes, the reasons for the lowturnout were manifold, particularly considering the targeted suppression of voters. I misspoke. Of the people that could vote, but did not, the reasons for their alienation are many. So, you're right on that count. The question, then, is what is to be done? How can we activate those people to get involved in politics?

  22. If there's nothing from this election we learn, it may be that Democrats are principled and idealistic. It's why people vote for them, it's how many see themselves. The extremely ruthless Democrats ... no one likes.

No climate change doesn't matter to them. My hope is that the all the shit he does enact negatively affects the trump supporters, the late decides, the moderates(if there are any) and the younger voters. That's the only hope I really have right now.

Yeah, I think it's clear that an ideologically oriented Democrat holds a lot of power with voters. The problem seems to be an inability to raise those kinds of Democrats up.
