Frankie Boyle is good, and for his misses I think his "voice" is so much better realised in the best of his work outside of Mock the Week.

 

six minutes into episode 31 of Magic Tavern and I'm crying laughing. these guys are magical

 

Chunt just fucking has my number, man. Anything he says (especially if it's to be short with Artie), absolutely cracks me up.

I really want to make it through this ep of CBB for PFT and Gourley but holy shit Cameron Esposito is insufferable.

I haven't listened to the episode yet but I've seen multiple people dog Esposito (not just for this podcast, for awhile now) and I just don't get it. She was really great on the episode of Meltdown I saw her on, I've enjoyed her previous CBB appearances, and I liked Same Sex Symbol. Aside from the dumb Mad Max tweet awhile ago, what about her bothers people?

 

The criticisms I've seen, and I think Scott just addressed it in a tweet, is that all she talks about is being gay and that's her only defining characteristic. I'm only 20 minutes into this episode, but she actually seems more affable than previous episodes.

 

Has anyone watched her special, Marriage Material yet?

 

It's totally fine that most of her stand up material is based on the fact that she's a lesbian, but it does feel like she kind of brings it up any chance she gets on the podcast appearances I've heard her on.

 

Exactly. And a lot of the time just shoehorns it into every little thing even when it doesn't make sense. Like on today's CBB when they're talking about soap of all things she just says "that's a lesbian soap". What the fuck does that even mean?

It just gets old after a while.

 

She does bring up her sexuality a lot, so I definitely recognize why people complain about that. But it's also obviously a huge part of her identity, and she has every right to talk about it as much as she pleases. Many other comics talk about the same things over and over, and get half as much criticism.

That being said, I personally find her grating and unfunny on every CBB she's been on. I'm sure her stand up is good (I've never seen it), but she's not the best improviser.

 

She's actually quite a bad improviser. I do like her stand-up.

I think the fact that I've just found nothing she says funny make the constant bringing up her sexuality that much more prominent?

Any other good interview podcasts w/ comedy and music folk along the line of YMIW/WTF? Been trying to up my podcast game. Listened to a really good episode of "I Was There Too" w/ Paul Rust talking about his time on Inglourious Basterds (which I was totally unaware he was in).

 

Sean is on Gabrus' podcast. I haven't checked his show out yet, but that's one way to get me to do it.

 

I found Caramel enjoyable in this episode but haven't gone out of my way to see her stand-up.

Lots of laughs on today's Hollywood Handbook. Just thinking about it has made me throw up three times today

 

Magic Tavern sounds like a really strange but wonderful podcast, gonna have to check that out on my walk to the library today

 

it's wonderful. once you get into the canon of the podcast the laughs are so great

I listened to the latest CBB and just don't get being that annoyed with Esposito. Taking issue with her talking about being gay, especially seeing as she was just married, comes off ugly to me.

 

Bajillion Dollar Properties got renewed for a second season.
