They were absolutely still playing stadiums. And it’s gonna likely be even bigger ones now.

It will be interesting to see where it nets out. I think it will be a stadium run (probably MLB parks vs football) with solid support. But how will it draw?

Creed came back and drawing big crowds so anything goes I guess but gotta say I’m seeing a lot of friends post how they aren’t interested in this new version Linkin Park.

I get the sense they’ll shoot for the stadium, but ultimately ticket prices will have to drop quite a bit to fill the venues. Just my guess.

In the US at least, they had two stadium shows booked in 2017 as co-headliners with Blink. I don't think it's a crazy reach in the bigger markets

I think that’s fair. They’ve been away a while, which is great for drawing audiences back in after they were falling off. Creed and even Yellowcard are proof of that, let alone Blink.

They have a dozen songs that are STILL rock radio staples for even kids who just came of age when Chester passed away. They’ve sold tens of millions of records. Social media is also not the best judge of their impact, but blink has 3.3 million followers on IG. Linkin Park still has 7.7 million, and the record isn’t even out yet. There’s a huge appetite for this.

When I last saw them it was in a 20k person venue with 30stm but I don’t find prepping for stadiums to be too surprising. I saw Avril Lavigne at the same venue a few weeks ago and Id guess LP are orders of magnitude bigger. 7 years of relative silence since Chester and coming back at a time when nostalgia is selling better than ever seems like a good formula to do that. People just wanna sing songs they grew up with. And right or wrong, in the grand arc of the band’s history I think Emily’s past (present?) will be a footnote that 95% of the crowd either won’t know about or recognize the significance of.

Facts. Also she sounds amazing live judging by the video and probably even better in person.

I probably still won’t go but I have to say I’m sadly a little tempted.

Im very glad I got to see Linkin Park in 2007 on Projekt Revolution and with Minutes To Midnight songs to boot. The one and only time I ever saw my favorite band at the time.

I saw them when they toured for The Hunting Party. I'm glad I got to see them at least once with Chester.

Very late to all of this news but I think she sounded really good at the show once she got into a groove (was definitely really nervous at the beginning), she genuinely really impressed me on Bleed It Out particularly. I like the new song a lot too

About her past... as others have said, speaking out against scientology can be incredibly dangerous, especially when you were born and raised into it and everyone you know is still potentially involved in it (possibly putting them in danger too). I can't blame anyone in that situation for not wanting to invite that, especially since it would put a target on the rest of the band too (and probably their families too by extension)... these people are fucking scary. I just hope it's true that she really is not a practicing member of the cult anymore, but only time will tell

Basically, I'm willing to give her a chance. I fully understand anyone not wanting to do that but I think it's a really tricky situation that we really can't know the extent of, but I do trust Mike's judgement

So this basically confirms my theory that this is more about Mike wanting to not live in the shadow of Chester’s death and not let his work be defined by it.
