Had no idea this thread existed but yeah... My wife has terrible pain in her tailbone since a car accident we had a few weeks ago. She went to schedule an xray and it said that you can't do it while you are pregnant. She took a pregnancy test just for the hell of it and guess what...

We are going to see her doctor later today to make sure she is indeed pregnant. If she is in fact having a baby then I have no idea where to even begin. 100% of our relatives live abroad and it's just us so we are not going to have any real help. We are pretty good financially but still, up until a few months ago we both knew we didn't want kids but a traumatic event made her re-think that decision and now here we are. Her last period was at the beginning of July so we have an assumption more or less when it happened. I'm 40, she is 32.

I have no nearby relatives so I can relate to not having help. It’s hard, I explored maybe getting friends to help but it never came close to working out. Try to find a reliable sitter for some relief but I’ve also found that to be a challenge. They come and go, understandably

Nobody is ever ready to have a baby. We all make it through, somehow, someway. You'll do great.

    Congratulations!

We took my son to his bus stop today for his first day of Kindergarten. He was so excited and has been obsessed with riding a school bus since he was like 3 so he was great today. I on the other hand teared up watching him get on and drive away, and then completely lost it when we got back to the car. He’s been going to preschool for 3 years now so it’s not like we haven’t been sending him off to the care of others before this. Something about it just hits hard.

I feel you on this. We did our first drop-off for my son's kindergarten on Monday.

The first day will always hit you hard, your baby is a kid now and they’re just gonna keep growing from here. It breaks my heart every year.

I might have been extra emotional today because I had to go right from there to getting a small minor medical procedure done involving my heart, but man it was rough hah

I say this probably once a month. I hate modern phones. It's too easy to go back and see when they were small. I don't think we were meant to do that as often as we've been afforded.

School started for us yesterday, 3rd grade and 1st grade. It wasn't a big deal though other than wincing at the passage of time.

I think it helps that we walk to school and are able to take them right to the door.

This is the first year our twins (3rd grade) are in different classes and we'll see how that goes. I think they'll settle into it, but there are already some big feelings from the kids.

I’m always intrigued with how schools and parents handle this, I’ve heard some say they want to keep them together and others say please separate them haha. I’m at the high school level so it’s a bit different but We had triplets at our school that graduated a couple years back and I was the first teacher they had, in their senior year, that had all 3 of them in the same class. But wildly different personalities in all 3 and super divergent interests

Here the schools leave it up to the parents but will offer a suggestion if they think we should go one way or another, though it's ultimately our choice.

When they started at this school in kindergarten we had just moved here a few months before, it was a new school, a new experience (their pre-K was a Waldorf school so very play-focused) and it just made sense to keep them together.

Going into first and second there hadn't been any issues with them being in the same class, and we asked them and they wanted to stay together so we let them.

Throughout last year though, we did start to notice a pretty big divergence in their learning styles and interests, their play styles and friend groups, and there was a lot more conflict between them at home so we thought it was probably time. And when we asked them they both immediately said "Different classes!" so we had our answer.

I’m not sure how I feel about wanting my kid to be little again. I’d like to relive the good moments again but man, I don’t miss all the bad moments and babies/toddlers are just so exhausting to take care of.

Well they cut a little opening in my chest and inserted a 24 hour loop monitor between my ribs and muscles haha. Basically they don’t know for sure what caused my arrhythmia back in May and the wearable monitors didn’t catch much so, it was either this or taking meds. So now I have a very small foreign body inside my chest right under my skin. The thought of it freaks me out a bit hah

but yeah I didn’t even go to a hospital or surgical place or anything to get it done, he did it right there in the office

My neighbors told me that my son (4th grade) has 'good rizzes on the school bus'

I have no clue what that means.

our daughter fell out of her crib while trying to climb out of it the other night. first time she ever tried that and it's the last. we immediately took it apart and she'll be on a mattress on the ground until we pick up the frame for her new bed today

consequently now that she has free reign of the room during naptime I'm watching her on the monitor as she pulls everything off of her bed and puts it in her play tent. she might never nap again lol
