that’s not a whataboutism, I was just saying I get the arguments about other issues but guns are one where we’re also dealing with 10s of thousands of deaths a year and I wouldn’t feel comfortable at someone writing that off as not as important, especially to anyone who’s lost a family member to it or something

 

My point is I'm guessing they were being hyperbolic and it was a thrown in issue to compare/contrast the cruelty of boiling down genocide as a single issue. You don't gotta nitpick every little thing

actually I will add this—I do think it’s important people remember there are other issues out there that are literally life and death to people and should understand why those people are going to be just as incredulous at the idea that their issue isn’t important enough to someone to vote as others here are incredulous that Palestinian lives aren’t enough for people to not vote. Like I don’t think stoneman Douglas or sandy hook families are all going to be receptive to “actually Dems and republicans are the same on gun control issues” lol
