What would you like me to call it then. Because people here have stated that they'd only vote for her if she quits sending weapons and does the ceasefire. And won't vote for her unless that is done. Only that. So I ask, what else is that besides voting based on a single issue? A single thing?
And that's a risk. A risk like I said before that I'm sure people have weighed the pros and cons to see if she says THIS who will she alienate, if she says THAT who will she gain. And based on whatever statistics there are, she chose to do the other route and appeal to the independents/republicans/Trump haters when she COULD (and were all in agreement here) have gone for EVERYONE.

This but also I really don’t think it’s very polarized. Cognitive dissonance exists. There are plenty of pro Israel folks on the liberal side of the aisle. I literally have extended family (not blood related) who are in that category. People who are literally against war economy but are brainwashed to think fighting alongside Israel is a necessary evil. Keep in mind the DNC is targeting liberals not leftists. The war is a complete non starter / dealbreaker among leftists. But a lot of liberals are treating the war in Israel as “just one issue” even if they are against it - let alone the fact there’s more conservative liberals, many of whom are ex military like my dad (who probably were high on Biden) who actually think it’s “responsible foreign policy” to maintain an intimidating presence in the Middle East and that Dems who don’t want to flex the military shouldn’t get elected.

Bear in mind this is the Party that promoted Trump in 2016 because they thought he’d be easier to defeat. I really don’t think we need to outsource our critical thinking to party hacks. I actually just think the Party stands for Israel’s ability to kind of proceed however they wish.

We’re talking in here like anyone is proposing Kamala say “we’re gonna to destroy Israel.” We’ve done arms embargoes before. Like a lot. In fucking 2021 Biden himself told Bibi he was cutting him off after their last assault on Gaza. Fucking Reagan told Begin he was doing a second Holocaust. If the idea of arms embargo pushes someone away from Harris, they were the ones looking for an excuse not to vote for her

I hate that I'm in a purple state so I kind of feel obligated to vote for Kamala to avoid a Trump presidency. NH tends to elect Dems in presidential elections, but I mean, it's still pretty close and we have a lot of Republican politicians within the state including the governor and a Senate majority.

I think campaign funding is a complex beast. No they won’t run “please don’t stop the bombs” ads but they’ll do a whole bunch of other shit to delegitimize her platform and further fracture the DNC vote

Yeah I think we are in leftist echo chambers if any of us think this doesn’t exist and that Zionism is an exclusively GOP thing. People on both sides literally STILL treat Israel like a victim and not the aggressor

I mean in hindsight I bet they wish they would have had a speaker last night because if you watched you heard that applause when she said what she said about Palestine so it's not like the crowd would have booed especially after reading that speech that was meant to be given. 70 something days to keep last night's message and hopefully budge the slightest in that regard.

low info voters who are vaguely “Israel should be able to defend itself” libs are more open to an arms embargo and ceasefire than any of you seem to give them credit for

Yeah I’m not sure where this narrative is coming from that all Democratic voters need us to support every decision Israel makes 100% of the time. Again, it’s entirely possible to be pro Israel and push for an arms embargo (which is less than I think any of us want but all we’re asking for)

    Trusted

Center/right aren’t fickle demanding babies like the left. So, she can pivot left and get the petulant loser votes while the center/right demonstrate their supreme ability to compromise and do what’s best for the party/country and still support her 1000%. That means she gets ALL the votes.

It’s not that she risks losing voters. It’s that the DNC isn’t going to do anything to risk losing campaign funding from huge donors because they are aware of how fragile their chances of beating Trump actually are if they can’t keep up with the money side of the election

I just don't think there are that many pro-Israel voters who were planning to vote for Kamala and, at this point, would pull their support if she came out and supported an arms embargo and ceasefire.

To me it all comes back to American politics being so intensely intertwined with capitalism, and large lobbying firms having a lot of power because they can raise more money than common voters can, and money is what really talks in our government

AIPAC has literally succeeded in getting two black Congresspeople out of office for being outspoken against the atrocities in Palestine.

It’s the most important election of our life time, democracy is on the ballot and we must do anything we can to stop trump….unless that means stopping a genocide
