I should get into Star Trek. I can’t stand Star Wars. The most comparable thing i like is certain eras of Doctor Who, and the friends I have who also watch that recommend Star Trek.

It seems pretty clear to me after all that that she doesn’t think she needs the votes of anyone disgusted by her policies vis a vis Palestine, so hopefully we can set that debate to rest now

That’s my impression. Got a rec on what era of Star Trek to start with?

    Next Generation, then DS9.

  13. Definitely the 90s era, TNG and DS9 are the GOATs. TNG a lot more episodic, DS9 more serialized. DS9 probably the better show overall, TNG maaaaybe higher highs. TNG probably better to start with, it's more representative of Trek as a whole I think. Can't go wrong though.

TNG is the best starting point for first time watchers. The first couple seasons are tough to get through though.

I feel like though the main episode I'd recommend all first time Star Trek watchers to watch first just to get a feel of the vibe of what I think sets Star Trek a part from all other sci-fi series is TNG 2x9 The Measure Of A Man. No spaces battles, no crazy effects, just a bunch of people in a conference room debating the nature of personhood and sentience in an allegory of the Dred Scott trial for 60 minutes.

I have heard people say Star Trek is best enjoyed after graduating with a liberal arts degree and episodes like that are really the ones that highlight that.

It’s always been the opposite of this too. To the point where campaigning to the right just makes me think they’re telling the truth.

I think this is also only surprising for some because people were ready to latch onto any hope they could find because of how bleak things were with Biden (me included) but this is just a reality check really.
