2016 was contentious because of the candidate, this is contentious because of a specific issue. People weren’t as passionate about hating Hillary as they are about Palestine for obviously reasons hah.

2020 wasn’t that bad from what I remember? Like yeah there were arguments but at the end of the day just get Trump the fuck out was a relatively prevailing feeling?

That's not justifying it. I'm still wholeheartedly against it. One thing doesn't make the other just poof disappear.

Yeah, I don't think anyone had any delusions that Biden was going to be some miraculous force for progressive change.

There was literally a post in here within the last 24 hours about how democrats can’t change their stance on supplying Israel with bombs to kill children because they can’t upset “the Jews”. Get outta here

Yeah and? I'm he one that said it and I stand by that because I do feel they ran the numbers to determine which base they could afford to lose their support. Based on analytics. Not morals. Did I say that was right? Did I say it was smart? Did I say I approve? NO. I said I don't agree but that's not my job to run the numbers and make decisions. That's not justification lol. I'm so sorry you can't look past your own feelings (which are right and valid btw so don't try to gotcha me) and realize Dems are making choices based on statistics. I'm not defending it. I'm just STATING IT. Once again the problem you have is you think people who aren't thinking exactly like you are the opposition.

And obviously you don't read or you cherry pick what you think makes you look slick because you missed the post I corrected "the Jews".

I don’t know how to say this without it sounding disingenuous but I promise it’s not: what are your reasons for feeling this way?

My logic is that if the choice was America not existing or, say, a continent’s indigenous population not being annihilated, I feel like it’s an obvious choice. I don’t see Israel as not ultimately having the same impact on millions of Palestinians that live there.

you don't support it you're just fine with voting for and supporting the person that, in the best case scenario, is okay with supplying weapons to make it happen? Got it. Very good reasoning and morals and not soulless at all

israel as a state and as a political project is white supremacist and cannot exist without the subjugation of Palestinians. this is undergirded by its state religion and ideology, zionism.

And I get it, if this was medicare for all, or student loan reform, or minimum wage or any other issue that democrats claim to support (but never act on or withdraw that support once elected), I totally get the "I don't support what they're doing but I can vote for the person anyway." But what is happening in Palestine isn't on that level, it's not even in the same ballpark, this is one of the most evil things to take place with the direct support of our tax dollars and elected leaders which is saying A LOT because the US has done a shit ton of EVIL in the last few decades alone!

The Democrats are making a strategic choice, they’re appealing to centrists and Zionists and hoping that group is enough to win the election / enough progressives just fall in line.

They could go hard against the genocide and do an arms embargo and actually fight for a ceasefire and get the progressives back on board and really help their chances. The majority of the vote blue crowd who only want to stop Trump won’t suddenly not vote for them, it’s a small number of people who will actually drop support.

but more importantly, they should be for stopping this genocide because it’s the right thing to do. And if they were working with groups on the frontlines of support for Palestine like Jewish Voices for Peace they could convince a lot of people that this is the right move to make.

Knowing how they definitely don’t even want to think about that as an option shows that they want the genocide against Palestinians to continue. They just want everyone to shut up about it until it’s too late.

It’s obviously evil at its core, but also a dumb move politically. But what do I know.
