Disappointed to find out the democratic congressional nominee in my district being backed by the Blue Dogs. I mean I guess that is really the only way the Dems can even win here (Our last Dem rep was Charlie Christ the former Republican governor who switched blue post-tea party). I'll take it if she can beat Luna, but just still not over the Blue Dogs voting against student debt relief.

I'm asking this sincerely: what makes you think Walz feels any differently about it than Harris and your average Democrat? Just vibes?

    Yeah just vibes mostly

even with the rebound stuff, it helps prevent severe outcomes / serious illness. with all of the unknowns and with more and more grim shit being learned all of the time, I think anyone who has access should take it if they get COVID.

I was so upset that last time my kids both had COVID we were told they were too young to take it

His daughter was able to get him to reexamine and change some of his views when he became governor. I believe some of the changes were after the Parkland shooting

He does have good vibes. But I'm not voting for these guys until there's action.

I'm not in a state where they need my vote, but from everything so far it seems they don't want it anyway.

Well, none of that is particularly reassuring, especially not "vibes," but I guess it's moot because like Ferrari said, he'll be invisible as VP anyway

If I wasn’t in a swing state no way I’d vote except for down ballot. I still plan to vote by the slimmest margin, I wasn’t going to vote for Biden, I can’t stomach what he’s done. But I also recognize at this point I’m voting for genocide and it makes me feel much worse than covid right now.

The reports on Walz’s track record during the VP process do make me think, in a vacuum, he’d be open to hearing from activists and making moral decisions accordingly.

Unfortunately, something like opposing Israel in the current Democratic Party seems a lot fucking harder than the wins he had in his state. I’m too burnt out from past misplaced optimism to think he’ll make any sort of difference.

fuck sorry man. Yeah I've taken it both times I tested positive. A few doctor/virologist folks I trust on the twitters said the lowest chance for rebound is if you wait at least 48 hours after symptoms start, aka starting it on day 3 of symptoms. Doesn't guarantee you won't rebound but someone out there put together the numbers from a few different studies and came to that conclusion. Theory is it gives your body a couple of days to start producing antibodies that will be numerous enough to kill the viral particles in your body after the paxlovid basically deactivates them, which also has the effect of slowing your body's immune response. Rebounds seem to happen because once the meds are out of your system, sometimes your body didn't respond enough to kill what was left and the virus starts replicating again.

You will have a metallic taste in your mouth for sure, but other than that didn't notice any side effects.

I have taken it twice and I've never had the metallic taste. my wife has taken it three times and gotten the metallic taste each time, 2 times not so bad and 1 time horrendously

the last time we both had COVID, we were both pretty sick, and we both called the doctor and asked for paxlovid. she ended up getting it but they told me to to just tough it out. (my wife is younger, fit, in good health - I am older, fat, have extremely high blood pressure)

From what I have read/heard Walz isn't really any different than a standard democrat on the Israel issue. But I guess he seems like a guy who could be more responsive to the opposition and open to listening to their concerns more so than Biden. I do see Harris in a similar way compared to Biden. Whether being more likely to listen will ultimately mean more likely to change policy course is obviously the question that does not have confidence in the answer.

But truly the way I see Harris is someone who is not beholden to strong beliefs on most of her positions. She can, has, and will change them where she sees it as convenient and helpful to furthering her support and getting elected. That could be both good and bad depending on the issue and we've already seen that with some things.

This is about where I'm at. If I were still in Chicago I would just skip the top of the ticket, but being down in NC now it feels different. Plus I've got to do what I can to make sure that Mark Robinson and Michelle Morrow are roundly defeated.
