You can't just magically make Palestine not an issue.

Everyone chooses what is important to them. As a result, Palestine is an issue whether you like it or not.

You're not going to be able to have a stance on the issue that makes everyone happy. But if we want to beat Trump, the best way to do that is to make people feel like they still have a place in the party. A place to go "okay, I disagree with you about what the right thing to do in this situation is, but we're still going to hear each other out and then resolve to put our differences aside and defeat Donald Trump"

Letting a Palestinian American speak tomorrow accomplishes that. Letting people wear "Free Gaza" shirts accomplishes that.

Instead, dems are going "no, we don't want you to even have a seat at the table. You're not welcome here" and I think that is a big mistake because we need every person we can get to defeat Trump

 

It’s the socially liberal but fiscal conservative argument for voting republican, yeah they homophobic and racist, but my taxes.

 

For what it’s worth coming from a random guy online, I think if you want to vote out of a sense of what you see as harm reduction, you shouldn’t feel shame about that. Similarly, if you - like me - can’t bring yourself to vote for these people, don’t feel shame for that either. I think what’s more impactful and more important to engage in is to find ways of being more directly supportive of Palestinians - attend protests, donate money, work in solidarity with groups that you like and believe in, etc.
