They don’t have to talk about policy when their voters will “vote blue no matter who” and run defense for them supplying weapons to a country committing genocide at the first sign of mild criticism?

bruh it’s the DNC the people there attending have always been voting blue no matter who lol. It didn’t stop them from talking about policy in the past.

But also one might be a little naive if one is like, hey where all the policy talk go?

I don’t know what exciting policy to base the spectacle around. Child tax credits?

Did you not see the tweet in this very thread about how the DNC conventions have not always been “vote blue no matter who”?

Well they’re mentioning some good policy goals, ie the increased housing or whatever, but it always seems to be in passing in these speeches. I mean I get the whole ‘the minute you release details you open yourself to attacks from opponents and the media’ thing, but at a certain point, 4 days of speeches all doing the same puff pieces on your candidates/yourselves just becomes redundant and feels empty, at least to me anyways.

I guess maybe it is good politics these days to just do the Trump shit of say a vague policy and don’t worry about talking about the details until after you win. It’s close to my idea of “lie about being moderate or about how your ideas are actually moderate and mainstream and then do progressive shit instead” like Mitch McConnell always did lol

Speaking of. But yeah no right winger or Trump supporter should be trying to use this as a line of attack because *gestures wildly*

Honestly now I'm a bit sad Tim didn't leave us with a "Clear Eyes / Full Hearts / Can't Lose"

You do realize I’m criticizing the Democrats and the DNC for how it’s being run, right? You seem highly upset that I’m not then going on to use that criticism to tell people not to vote for them or something, idk.

I know you are and that’s what so frustrating lol. You are so close! Maybe they aren’t worth defending like you always do in here when anyone brings up any sort of criticism about lack of action or their awful support of policy and they’re empty soulless ghouls who have clawed their way into power and will never do anything to disrupt that by taking firm policy stances on things like the Palestinian genocide or Medicare for all

lol no, you are so close! To realizing you can think a candidate or party is extremely flawed or not doing all the things you want exactly how you want them but still realize that giving them your vote isn’t a blood oath or endorsement of everything they do, it’s just an expression of the idea that you can get some things you want out of them!

It’s frustrating for you because you want desperately to paint me as a “rah rah go team” guy but I literally criticize them and the party all the time and you know it doesn’t make sense lol

I think the Dems are not confident in their ability to co-op the Palestinian movement as opposed to say BLM. It’s just too risky to give them a true spotlight. They gonna use the G word.

I feel bad for them. Last night tomorrow. If they’re not gonna give them stage then… do what you gotta do.
