Come on Nate, don't be posting that shit in here. That's traumatizing. You don't need to do that to prove your point. At least use a trigger warning or something.

you know usually i'm on the i dont look at or share police shootings type move, but it's just been 10 months of this and debating what would make this better.

no but there have been statements from groups in Palestine about not wanting Trump to win the election IIRC and the guy actually doing the genocide very openly wants Trump to win and is apparently having discussions with him where he’s being told definitely don’t do the ceasefire, so that tells me pretty solidly who the two groups most directly involved in the conflict think is more likely to stop it

iirc that’s because part of the border bill included funding for better measures for finding smuggled drugs both coming in with iundocumented peoples and at legal points of entry..BUT I may be mixing it up with another bill

Don’t think this was the same thing someone posted here, but similar to it. It’s a ‘generally skeptical of change happening but acknowledging the best hope of it is probably Harris out of the two options’ stance.
‘Trump would be the worst’: Palestinians react to US presidential race
this quote in particular seems to generally match up with what people have expressed here. No one a fooling themselves that a change in leadership will guarantee change, but to them the chance is worth it. Especially given the alternative. The best case scenario
You’re hoping for with Trump at the helm ends up being that he talks bibi into ending the war in exchange for some sort of deal/normalization with the Saudis or something like that, but I would assume Gaza and the West Bank are massively shrunken and patrolled by any deal like that. More likely Trump just gives them more weapons and says to go harder and end it fast.

still woefully missing the point and any measures attacking the supply instead of the demand will get us nowhere. if we don’t treat substance abuse at home there will always be another dangerous drug people are using

I mean I agree that it’s not the solution to substance abuse for sure, but given that ports of entry fall under the same purview as immigration and all that, it made sense that funding tied to trying to curtail supply would be part of the border deal. I don’t think we should assume that’s the only policy tied to drugs/addiction she’ll do

i dont know the policy proposal. is it stuff that will make coming through the border at non legal points of entry more deadly?

I haven’t read about it much since the deal fell through but iirc there was more funding for technology/man power/sniffer dogs/etc at legal points of entry AND along the border, basically trying to catch it before it came in

I get the point you are making, but I mean, that could still be very triggering to someone who is fully on your side, or for personal reasons completely unrelated to this debate

lol…yeah I mean Netanyahus actions and words should provide a pretty strong clue as to who would be worse on this issue but. Yeah. Theres only so much that can be said.

first thing I personally think needs to happen and a lot of old school anti MAT addicts are going to completely disagree with me but we need a new maintenance drug that isn’t methadone or suboxone and I’ll explain why. Methadone has a whole host of problems including it’s insane half life that makes it very very very hard to get off of in addition to lowering testosterone and what have you but more and more people are going to methadone right now because suboxone is NOT designed to treat fentanyl abuse, it was developed to combat heroin use and help addicts transition off which is great I am 100% pro MAT and harm reduction but fentanyl and more specifically fentanyl analogues which is what you get on the street are very very very VERY hard to transition onto suboxone from because of insane half life of certain analogues and fentanyl being lipophilic in high doses meaning it’s like THC and sticks to fat cells and takes forever to leave the system. so normally you take suboxone when you start feeling heavy withdrawal but if you take it too soon you go into even worse withdrawal which happened to me earlier this year in the hospital. people cannot get from fentanyl to suboxone anymore like they could with heroin. it was so easy to avoid precipitated withdrawal. so now you either need to get on methadone which sucks and way outdated or go through a ton of pain getting on suboxone or even more pain going cold turkey and getting on Vivitrol or something. the options for treatment for heavy fentanyl users are pretty fucking rough and relapse rates are so high because of it

getting shot at as absolutely broken this man. And frankly I don’t blame him, that would happen to most people who got shot at.
