You do realize we aren’t funding Russia and are actively supporting Ukraine’s war efforts? I think we should be doing more diplomacy with Russia to end the war but our support in the two situations is not comparable. The two wars themselves aren’t even very comparable.

  3. Also the genocide in Gaza is inescapable, every inch of the country has been bombed 10 times over, the casualties are greater by total and incomparable by proportion. Not to mention Ukraine has a fucking army.

If the dems were saying we need to send 50 billon in military aid to Palestine and Israel must withdraw from their land trust me I wouldn’t be complaining about them so much

I think his point is some of the posters calling folks Hitler over Palestine have actively excused Russia’s actions in Ukraine, not that U.S. policy in both wars is equal

  9. My point over Russia's actions in Ukraine has always been that they were predictable and that the US has never acted like it would if its goal was to avoid war in Ukraine. The same is true in Gaza, obviously. What's the issue.

Just went on a big rant to my mom because I said it's hard to feel good about anything political in light of Gaza, she said they're trying to get a ceasefire, and I spun out from there.

I think she's having a hard time with this because A. we're Jewish and I get that it's hard for some Jewish people to think of Israel as the horrible oppressor, and B. she's very much a casual reader in pretty much everything, so to hear her son raise his voice about this is probably disconcerting.

lol there’s a reason why multiple people reading yours and others posts in that thread came away with the impression not that you just understood the possible context of the invasion, which is a weak one btw, but that you actively agreed with Russia’s stated (read: lying) reasons for it and thus haven’t been nearly as upset about it. No one disagrees that Russia felt pressure because Ukraine wanted better economic ties with the west. They just are way less inclined to shrug their shoulders at the invasion because of it. It’s not a valid reason to invade your neighbor. And if the US did it ti a neighbor, we all know you wouldn’t be going on about an American adversary trying to support an anti-American govt there or creating closer economic ties to that country and pissing us off and etc. Your outrage and logic seems selective to some people, I don’t know what to tell you.

  21. I don't care what multiple people think, multiple people on here are comparing Ukraine to Gaza like there's any equivalency. My outrage is proportional to my country's complicity and ability to stop the death.

Even if I feel like Russia is a country of pure evil, it’s still either intellectually dishonest or outright ignorant to compare it to Gaza. I don’t think it’s selective to care about ethnic cleansing that your own country is actively supporting and funding against a people that have no military and virtually no outside support differently/more than a conventional war between two sovereign states.
