I had a post typed up pointing out that it seemed like David was arguing about winning votes over to a certain side in an election / elections, and that the people going after him really weren't talking about that at all, but I deleted it because it sorta came off like I was defending David, which was not something I wanted to do in this instance

 

There isn't even a line to draw. Every single government power across the world is complicit in this genocide if they aren't actively and aggressively using their power to stop Israel or Russia.

For shits and giggles, I went back and searched that thread for "Defund the police" and "Abolish the police". This was the one post I made saying anything negative about it:

It was in late August, after most of the protests had died down, and in response to a post about Kamala sort of waffling when asked in an interview if she still believed we needed to have more police or not, and the discussion was around whether we thought she was avoiding saying yes because she didn't want to piss off progressive or avoiding saying no to not piss off the moderates who might not like the idea of less police.

Someone then asked me for stats or data backing up the 30% number and I promptly posted the survey that showed it lol.

Other than that..no, uh, "scolding", as you put it, Scott. Cool story, though, I guess!

Only thing that I found that came close was in a discussion about social stability that was a more general discussion of what social stability/instability means and if it would be better or worse for people. My main point was widespread social instability tends to lead to a lot of death, but I didn't view the Floyd protests as social instability because they were really only effecting a few blocks of city streets for a few hours every night. It wasn't like mass food supply disruptions and shit.

 

TBH it's a new one for me and first time I saw it. McArdle is one of those dumb "IDW" people I think who likes to present herself as a rational conservative or something like that, Bari Weiss vibes. I feel like she's just seeing right wingers try to spin the 18 different things they're trying to spin into scandal and trying to breathe any sort of life into them.

BTW for anyone curious IUI and IVF are different but having just gone through it the last few years, it all gets lumped into the "IVF" process lol.

outside of the healthcare setting I definitely hear 'IVF' used as a catchall term for anything to do with that at all

 

IUI is literally just a thing that they (doctors, but I think mostly insurance companies) make you try first because it's cheaper and less invasive, more or less. We technically were supposed to do three rounds of IUI before they would do IVF, but the doctors fucked up the timing of the second cycle of it so we really only did it twice.

When we started going through fertility treatments 10 years ago (!) we had to do 3 cycles of Clomid and 3 cycles of IUI before we could get to IVF.

 

yeah iirc we had to do the clomid too? It’s hard because ours got broken up by them realizing they needed to basically go in and scope/clean out my wife’s entire system from all the scar tissue of the first emergency c section. So we started, then we stopped and did that surgery. Then started again. It’s been a long ass road. GOP talking about banning IVF or trying to get on Walz for it seem to have no clue the wasp nest they’re stirring up with that
