The game isn't, at least as far as I know, but the company is. And the fanbase said company attracts.

May be unpopular or off base, but isn't that them just basically saying 'play the game, talk about the game, and don't drag the game into any political / culture war discourse?'. It may not be the most tactful or elegant way to say it, but I imagine plenty of developers out there these days want to say similar - 'please just play the game and enjoy it for what it is and leave any conversations about our intentions, our political views, our ideologies off the table'.

I also get that they are a Chinese developer so some of what is taboo from there has snuck in which is jarring to Western tolerances. Either way, I get the sentiment?

So tell me something awesome Supporter

They were the ones who drug the game into those discourses

I'm just gonna say it point-blank: we don't have to be "tolerant of other cultures" if that tolerance involves mistreatment of other people.

When they say not to bring "feminist discourse" what does that mean and what does that imply? Think hard about that in context of everything else.

I wasn’t gonna say it but…yeah lol. If you rightfully acknowledge how horrible the devs are why are you picking it up day one? have some shame and wait for a sale. I understand “no ethical consumption” I live my life by it lol but personal actions mean something in striving for a better world too. If you acknowledge the Wukong devs are wrong for what they’ve said but still buy the game are you much different than people going out of their way to buy the game because they think the devs are based for hating women? same result at the end of the day. something to think about. if you drew the line on hogwarts legacy but bought wukong im even more confused. both are a “buy second hand down the road or take to the high seas” games if you must play them. just my take.

it’s funny to see the anti censorship crowd go to bat for a Chinese company trying to censor reviews or streams or whatever

That would be a problem and wasn't anything I was aware of. I was just reacting to the statement which to me came across as a 'just play the game and please no politics' with some Chinese rhetoric thrown in. I didn't really take it maliciously, but if there is more to the story, and how the company operates / behaves, then I'd think otherwise.

That's why I said inelegant and Chinese culture imbedded. I Just understand the point of a developer not wanting some streamer going on a political / cultural hot point rant about ANYTHING and then the next thing you know, the game is in the news and people are talking about the 'fans' of the game etc and things outside of 'is it any good?'. They shot themselves in the foot (the whole Barbara Streisand effect thing and now people have something to talk about).

On face value though, a message of 'we would like our game to stand on it's own without any cultural / political discourse being brought into the reviews' isn't inherently a bad request (if the game or the developers themselves haven't sent out a message to be talked about).

Sometimes our lives are inherently political especially those of us who are minorities. I will never take serious not wanting the cultural/political conversation.
