I had the thought the other day "out of all the franchises that Disney owns which one is my favorite?" and I really think it might be Alien.

Oh wow so I guess the budget for this was only $80 million?

I assume because so much of this is small interior spaceship shots, that helped keep most of the sets relatively small. And mostly all young actors, so smaller cast budget.

have to wonder how much of it was spent on the VFX for the divisive character reveal.

I think the reveal works; used well to advance the story

Fav scene in the film - involves the topic of gravity (seen in trailer). Excited to see what others think

I think I have to go with the first five minutes…when you realize that they’ve just recovered the xeno from the first film is pretty awesome. Those scene felt the most like Alien to me.

Yeah that was a great way to setup the film, helping inform the why of what happens later in the film.

Just finished my rewatch of Prometheus through Aliens and seeing this at 3:40. Hyped!

Rewatching Prometheus now; in the beginning, after the crew wake up and Charlize Theron gives a speech to the crew, she says:

"Good morning. For those of you I hired personally, it's nice to see you again. For the rest of you, I am Meredith Vickers. It's my job to make sure you do yours". Yours what? Their job? What kind of grammar is this? Did she forget to say a sentence?

watched last night. 5th best alien movie. few choices brought things down (in the last act, mostly) and should've been at least several minutes tighter. no weak spots in the cast at least, far as i could tell. still worth at least a watch if you love this franchise

i love it when people on reddit get super scientific about whether or not something in a movie that has an alien parasite bursting out of someone's chest could actually happen

I wonder if this new film does pretty good, if they'd be interested in resurrecting that sequel with Fede directing

maybe? it's been a bit since Covenant, so i'm wondering if they're trying to see if a more straightforward approach (like Romulus is touted to be) would ultimately have better reception/box office returns

Their job, yes. It's her job to make sure they do their job. I actually don't find anything confusing about that sentence.

This rocked, but man, I sure wish Ash and the hybrid looked better. Some of the space stuff was breathtaking.

Ice cold popcorn, like it was straight from the Nostromo. It's an immersive experience.

This absolutely ruled. Fucking pissed that they used my likeness for that human/alien hybrid though

This was a ton of fun and I'm glad it leaned more into horror. Knew I could count on Fede.

Didn't love the hybrid. Looked a little Voldemortish lol
