I'm a freelancer for a European-based company but if I get promoted to permanent employee, those people get 30 PTO days a year (most I ever had was 16)

Just realized a harvest fair near me that's happening next month is having performances by a Foo Fighters tribute band and Everclear the real band! The 90s are back, baby

saw the gin blossoms at a rib fest like 10+ years ago and they only played new songs and yelled at the crowd for wanting the hits and then it got rained out so they didn’t play any of the hits.

  17. how were the ribs though?

I saw them play at an arts street fair in South Pasadena, CA right around the release of their latest album circa 2018. They played their hits mixed with new songs to a pretty tiny crowd and they were more self-deprecating and humorous with their comments about switching between new tracks and the ones everyone wanted to hear, so it was actually a pretty sweet, fun, unique experience. Props to whatever chamber of commerce employee had the gumption to snag Gin Blossoms to play a tiny stage set that should have been a local jazz band.

And, on topic with this thread, while they played, this racist old man tapped these Latino kids behind us who were talking and laughing mockingly at the white people legacy band and said “YOU DON’T BELONG HERE. YOU NEED TO LEAVE” and then the racist old man pointed to my wife and I and said “You’re bothering them.” And we were like WTF “No. we aren’t bothered and have nothing to do with that guy.”

I wish more bands were like this; based behavior.

My only critic of this is that I felt like it was more about walz than Kamala, but this was heartwarming stuff. Also trigger warning with the SA stuff

Around the same time, I also saw Sugar Ray and Lit play at the Rose in Pasadena, which was a Gelson’s super market that got gutted and turned into some shady night club/concert venue. There were maybe 100-200 people there for them and it was a wide space so you could walk right up to the stage pretty much. Mark McGrath making fun of his own hit songs in between verses and then segueing into his shitty pandering coconut beach kids songs that were on their most recent album was so good. Art from Everclear came out at one point to sing backup and the guitarist started doing the opening riff to Santa Monica and Art immediately shut that down and said he wasn’t going to sing it.

I miss pre-COVID nostalgia shows. No audience. Tickets were $20 or free. Now every legacy band show feels like it’s $400 and at arenas or part of some giant festival package. :tear:
