Liquid Swords and Cuban Linx are insane. Love Blackout! and Tical as well. Still going through the catalogue.

  6. The Wu Tang solo records always remind me of Paid in Full even tho Erik B & Rakim aren’t Wu Tang. Probably because when I was 15 i thought they were lol. Great record

I also have a soft spot for Bobby Digital even though it’s nowhere near the quality of LS, OB4CL, Tical, or SC.

Tyler did an interview and had a lot of things to say about the current state of hip hop

How every new rapper is just a copy of eachother now, and how the internet has made hip hop homogeneous.

How modern hip hop fans are critically illiterate and the online discourse isn't focused on the actual music anymore. "I get mocked online for talking about the tracks and production. I am a musician..what the fuck else do you think I am supposed to talk about you dumb fuck? Who I got beef with? Who I fucked? That should be 90% of my conversation? No! I make music!"

How gen z white rapper Ian is a culture vulture who is mocking rap music

Ian is the logical result of “modern Hip Hop fans” and certain big artists as well as mainstream music media turning (mainstream) Hip Hop into what’s essentially purely an aesthetic rather than a culture, regardless of how often the world “culture” is being thrown around still

    /old head rant over

I had gone through the past 6 months or whatever without hearing any Ian until I came across his music in the comments of that tweet. I’m now sad.
