Relistening to Brain Pain. I like it more than I remember. I think the new one is more consistent, but Brain Pain definitely has higher highs. The Worst Part About Me is such a banger.

I miss SYG. Still unfair they dropped a banger like I’ll Walk It Off and then peaced out

like when neon pop killed TEN, TSL, Sugarcult, etc it was cool those bands kept pop punk going even though it was heavier, i fell in love hard, and then it was cool to see all the bands i listened to when i was younger eventually come back in the 2010s, but i feel those harder pop punk bands reminded the tumblr era kids that pop punk was cool, wonder years also helped. but yah i love that stuff still!

i love the plucky sound of mutiny, i just revisited it a couple days ago, burned at both ends is still my least favorite of their albums but it has definitely grown on me over the years since we never got another full length.

Listening now and I'm honestly really impressed, dare I say.... it sounds better than the original? ::ducks:::

I love about half of Brain Pain and skip over the rest.. but that half that I love is for sure top tier stuff from them!

Analysis Paralysis is much more consistent and stronger as a whole IMO.

I don't think it's controversial. I think it objectively sounds better. Whether someone still likes the original or not is probably purely based on nostalgia.

Today's playlist for finishing my run was SYG's Gaia Bleeds (a classic for years when I need something to help me gut it out), and Brain Pain title track and Worst Part About Me. Really in a mood for this stuff right now.

    I would kill for a re-record.

TWBTDOU was ahead of its time.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

This is a ridiculous notion, no way that's objective
If we were talking about re-recording The Blackest Beautiful or something, sure but not EOTW

I just feel like everything is maximalized a little too much on the OG, and it's fatiguing. I feel like they finally balanced the low end in the mix and it's a much smoother overall experience for me. I also like their more recent guitar tones better than the original ones, so maybe that is a little subjective.

I get what you're saying, but I love the low end on the original as it's a better counter-point to the synth, but it's mostly due to the fact that I mostly listened to the record in the car or blasting over large speakers that can handle it. Makes the album feel huge, in a way that only Machine's work on GDIH matches.

Yeah, I can agree it's a production style made for cars, stereos, and not critical headphone listens.

Question: do you guys consider It's Our Time to be an official full length album or more of a independent/demo album? I've seen Rise Or Die Trying listed as both their debut and second album. Trying to decide how to organize my backup folders.

Random thoughts based on the various discussions:
    - I never quite latched onto Brain Pain like I have with their other albums, not sure why. Maybe quarantine played into it. It's a good album, I just don't go back go to it as much as their other work.
    - EOTW is a very special album for me, but the re-recording just doesn't do it for me. Maybe because I have such fond memories of the original and that point in my life (blasting this on repeat on my iPod while home without power for two weeks after a freak snowstorm)
    - Lastly, this album is so much fun. "Maybe Its Me" is a quick favorite, but looking forward to digesting the album as a whole with more listens

This is on a very short list of 2020 albums I liked that came out pre-COVID, and it really feels like another lifetime ago compared to other albums from that year. I think it definitely made it exist somewhat negatively in my mind for that reason.

As someone who has been waiting since EOTW for a new FYS album I enjoy I am very impressed with Analysis Paralysis

Songs have unique elements that make them stand out and there is a good mix of pop and more hardcore riffs. Biggest issue is the lyrics are pretty meh overall (not that FYS ever had strong lyrics). It could have used a stronger closer.

I also went back to Brain Pain and it has a pretty strong first half.
