EOTW and RODT have such a ridiculous hold on me in terms of nostalgia. I know them inside out, my obsession with EOTW when it came out was (now looking back) borderline worrying. I did enjoy ST but nothing after got me bar a few tracks. I am loving some of these new tunes tho.

    EOTW
    RODT
    ST

    Brain Pain
    ISWSOF

I'd be interested to hear how they'd approach those songs using their current sound. Could make for some extremely cool shit - a reimagined record of sorts.

Is the re-recording of EOTW worth listening to at all, or is it basically a carbon copy?

  4. If you don’t like the songs, the re-recording’s not gonna do much for you. Hard to call it a carbon copy from a production standpoint but the music is essentially the same

It definitely sounds like EOTW but with a bit more towards their modern sound. Definitely more heaviness to it and all the keys are basically gone. I thought it was very well done

The RODT/EOTW era will always be special to me. I hadn’t heard pop punk integrated with heavy elements like that since the first time I heard ADTR’s For Those Who Have Heart. I was always into heavier stuff, but RODT and EOTW were basically a gateway into pop punk for me, and luckily it happened at a time when the big wave of the early 2010s pop punk was having a revival of sorts. Not sure I would’ve gotten into TWY, Fireworks, Man Overboard, NFG’s newer stuff, TSSF, or Transit if it wasn’t for Four Year Strong.

The guitars on the re-recording make me want to run through a brick wall.

Have given this a couple listens now - almost entirely skipped the singles

I am hearing a lot of Glow On era Turnstile on this record.

The first track on this is incredible and the second track is horrible. I’ll be able to listen to the rest after work

Yeah this is definitely one of those bands that I keep thinking I’ve grown out of (in terms of genre), but they’ve really come into their own again with the last two records.

It’s pretty impressive that each album cycle I mentally start out not being interested in the slightest until I listen.

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

Pretty fun record. High energy, some fun guitar parts and breakdowns throughout. The opener and rollercoaster are my favorites.

Only like 3 complete stinkers (dead end friend, STFIL, how do i let you go). The AI art was an immediate turn off with a band that historically has at the very least distinct, recognizable, and sometimes really fun artwork made by real people. Wouldn't be surprised if they did the same with the lyrics with how generic and bland they tend to get here.

Record lands somewhere in the middle of their discog for me. Better than Brain Pain and ISWSF but worse than S/T .

I wasn’t really in a FYS mood when the re-record of EOTW came out but I am now, and wow they did the rare feat of a re-record really sounding like a modern take on a classic that is well warranted.

I think I finally am coming around on Maybe It's Me (after just watching the video and not listening to it in context) but i really didn't like it at first

Aftermath/afterthought wound up being the only song I really like. Some other ones are pretty good but even the ones I like all have one part or another I don’t like or sounds wildly out of place. Super uneven listen. I remember liking Brain Pain a lot more than this

Better Get Better rules! Is probably the most FYS sounding song on the album.

  23. Agreed, it reminds me of something from EOTW

Honestly can’t get into this record much. Tried several times, even on a couple runs and it’s just extremely disjointed. None of the hooks really land imo
