I don't dislike DDTM at all but I don't really listen to it that much. NMG blew me the fuck away and I guess I just didn't feel hyped up for DDTM -- I will be revisiting that in anticipation of this new record. This new song is amazing.

 

I listened to DDTM last night, as I said the only song I don’t love is speak with the dead (and yeah where the lightning strikes twice is…borderline) other than that it has some of their best songs. Beacons is a top 5 foxing track, and cold blooded and the title track would land in my top 10

 

DDTM gets me so amped. I love Lightning and DWTD the only song that I'm lukewarm on is At Least We Found the Floor but it isn't bad. Bialystok is one of their top songs.

 

I need to revisit that last Smidley record

 

Omfg lol no one is ready for "Hell 99." Absolutely INSANE song. Goosebumps and a big ass smile the whole way through. I wonder if this will be released as a single.

 

Draw down the moon is elite. It hits different than their other albums and maybe it was more of a grower for me than the others. But it is exquisite. Listening to it now. Can confirm.

 

The screaming and noisy shit is awesome, but I think the most impressive thing here is what they're doing with soundscapes. Their new guitar player mixed this, right? He knocked it out of the park. Doing some really unique stuff with some of the more unconventional song structures that have little interludes with different instrumentation and what he's bringing to the front of the mix at any given moment. You can tell there is a LOT of thought put into the production on this. As a whole, it feels less like conventional, individual songs and more like a statement piece comprised of really fucking cool and unique...well, pieces.

 

Lol. First impression? There's literally no way this goes down as anything other than their best album yet. It's insane. It's like they took Nearer My God, sprinkled just a little of DDTM in there, and then made it a lot heavier and more experimental. They are, once again, operating on another level. There's a specific comparison I want to make but it's based on vibes alone and I don't want to overhype (lol), so we can leave it at that. But yeah. Wow. I feel confident in all of that after one listen lmao. This record is fucking crazy.

This might be a rare time where I'll wait to listen to much more. Greyhound has grabbed me as just being fine, and I'm sure it's better in sequence. @Aaron Mook just give us the comp, there's no way to hype us up more than we already are.

I'll just chum up to Jon by talking about disc golf then ask nicely for an advance

 

I live right next to an 18 hole course I’m sure he’s familiar with it I’ll invite him out i used to toss daily back in the day

 

Hole 10 is a Pokémon Go gym and within reach of my condo, the lord has blessed me in many ways

 

I am extremely jealous. I live in a good area for disc golf but I'm smack in the middle of them, with about a 15-minute drive (worse during high traffic times) to any of them. I would love to be able to walk out of my door and walk to the course.

 

It’s super convenient but it’s been so damn hot lately I haven’t been in forever. There’s a lot of really good courses in the area but yeah some of the better ones would take me 30-40 minutes to get there but there’s some awesome ones 10-15 minutes away as well and some in between. I’d give the course I live next to a solid 8/10 mostly because it’s a full 18 but it has nice variation between flat and hilly holes and a few in some lightly wooded areas (that I still managed to lose a disc in). There’s one course nearby that’s completely in the woods so I only play it in the fall and winter but it’s one of my favorites

 

Also I think the best rated disc golf course in the state (according to a tik tok I saw a while ago) was my main course during college when I lived in Columbia, Missouri it’s a huuuuuge 27 hole course

 

I actually bought a disc from him at the DDTM release show at the pagaent and I asked if he wanted to disc with me the next day before I drove home and he said yes but then anxiety took over and I ghosted him. Whoops.
