The part I always find so funny about AEW drama is they just cannot keep it in house. Like, this is a perfect nothing burger (sorta similar to when Eddie wanted to knock Sammy Guevara out) that happens all the time; but someones gotta report it to a dirt sheet

I want someone to recreate this kind of feud. Felt like Hangman/Archer had that kind of potential when they did their Texas Death; and I guess Swerve/Hangman also both have the agility to do something sorta wild like that

one of the greatest series of matches EVER, i remember seeing heatwave 98 as a teenager for the first time on a shitty dailymotion rip and could not believe what i was watching. the fact masato tanaka is still wrestling today is fucking crazy

I’m into it re MJF, and I wasnt really hooked by anything he’d done since his return. I think making the American’s nationalism and xenophobia the heel heat for a foreign babyface to beat is fun.

 

Can y'all recommend one or two of Punk's quintessential matches? I was an attitude era kid then just got back into things like a year or two ago and realized tomorrow would be the first time I actually watched a match of his.

My relationship with Punk:

Thought he was extremely overrated during his first WWE run. Hated him when he left WWE after the rumble.

Thought he was overrated during his AEW run. Was indifferent toward him.

Kinda like him now? But also still think he’s overrated and a self righteous asshole.

the only constant is I always thought he was a terrible wrestler. A lot of his strikes were almost Shane level bad in my eyes. Good to great on the mic but never truly interested in his matches

 

I think that's why he never really clicked for me. Never watched any of his stuff until he came to AEW and really the only thing he did there that I enjoyed was the dog collar match. Unless you're Eddie Kingston, you're not gonna win me over with just good promos.

Edit: Actually I did like the Eddie match also.

 

I wasnt watching wrestling for basically the whole decade Punk was relevant, so all I had for when he appeared in AEW was the hazy good feelings people had for his run and having seen that MITB match v Cena, where anyone would look amazing because that crowd is electric. And I actually really liked his AEW run for the first year...great promos and pushed other guys to rise to his level. Compared to say, Jericho, I think he's a much better worker in knowing what he can and cant do and keeping it credible. Dont disagree on his striking, but, he purposely got more into brawls than striking contests, or did a lot more catch stuff. But what he mostly had was a fully fleshed out character. Not many others in AEW did (basically Mox, Darby, and MJF was getting close), so he stood out.

His current run WWE stuff bores me; all his edge is gone. But, if he can stay healthy and turn heel on Seth or someone with real babyface credibility, he might get interesting from there.

 

Cody/Solo is now a bloodline rules match. Brother please stop this
