I get so many of these (and have had many canvassers). It's so annoying. I just tell them what they want to hear so they leave quicker

My polling place is usually pretty tame as I tended to vote in the morning in the past and it's just elderly people there. Tomorrow I won't get there until after work so I'm wondering if it will be any different. Keep in mind I live in a solid blue state where this election Trump signs have outnumbered Clinton 10:1

I can no longer send out a message to all the women in my life about voting, and it bums me out. Every 2 to 4 years I'd get to say, "Susan B Anthony's trial for voting illegally was held at the courthouse on my street. We haven't even had the vote for 100 years. We owe those women a debt that we can only pay back by voting."

And then something about a mad Susan B ghost. Mostly I wanted to brag about the cool history of my town, but still :p Now it'd just be me being a dick about it.

Said this before but by-mail voting rules. There's something about the excitement at the polling place on the day of, but this is just too easy. And way less stressful.

I've always enjoyed voting in person. I missed out on the 2000 election for being a month shy of my 17th birthday but registered soon after turning 18. I showed up for municipal elections but had to do an absentee ballot in 2004 because I was away at college. I think it was you who suggested it but right now I'm strongly considering writing in Bernie's name tomorrow.

I live more than a mile away and the line to get in stretches to a block from my house and then continues in a different direction.

Double check CT's voting laws....here if he's not registered as a write-in candidate your vote won't count.

Fucking fantastic article right here. I recommend people give it a read. Yes, it uses the term neoliberal, but give it a goddamn read before dismissal:

"While their economic nationalisms are doomed and their ethno-nationalisms are abhorrent, the Trumps, Le Pens, and Farages are correct that the “established order” is not delivering for the vast majority of people. Furthermore, people do not simply feel more and more disenfranchised, they quite simply are. Trump would probably bring an erratic, unpredictable foreign policy. And yet, all that the neoliberal state has delivered in this arena are unending wars of aggression, intervention, and destabilization for political and economic gain. Many call Trump a fascist. Yet it is the crime of wars of aggression that is considered the principle or greatest charge in the Nuremberg Charter, the crime which sets the stage for “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity.” If there is going to be a politics that overcomes the new fascist threat, it must address the fact that the crisis is not now, the crisis has already been for some time. By focusing only on the threat of our homegrown Hitler caricature we have failed to notice the facts right in front of our faces: the uniquely parallel structures, the same winners, the similar losers, the crimes, the human degradation. We are already living in our very own, cruel 21st-century Supermanagerial Reich."
