August is tomorrow! Let’s hope some deluxe album news is just around the corner. I’m hungry!

 

I thought the same thing this morning.

 

I truly hope we get some quality tracks for the deluxe. I know people are mixed on the ones we already got (Cut Me Off and See You), but I enjoyed them (LOVE Cut Me Off). Don't just phone it in for a couple of songs to slap on, I wanna get some quality blink!

 

Oh no! Their OMT Google Calendar is BLANK for August!!!! Guess we aren't getting anything at all.... jk jk

 

So I know I already posted a sparks notes version of my night in DC, but I wanted to add more to highlight my experience. My brother and I had early entry pit tickets after seeing how hard it was to get front row barricade at our show last year. We went to check in around three and sadly found out we were #44 in the check in. They ended up allowing people to check in as early as they wanted I guess and then you’re free to go about your day once you had your wristband. So I was already super nervous that we wouldn’t get front row barricade, but when once we were let in and then into the pit, we found a spot for both of us right in the middle.


Now, I had also made custom Spanish hats that had a blink logo on top and wrote out “Ole Ole Ole Ole” on them for the both of us to wear and figured we might get some screen time. Everyone went NUTS during Dance With Me and kept jumping up and down with us and we got on the big screen with our hats during the second chorus which was epic. The show itself goes by SUPER fast. I’ve seen two shows now and both times I was like “Wait, already” once the last 4 or 5 songs hit. At the very end of the show, the band came out and took a bow and then Travis was throwing out drum sticks. He had one left and was scanning the front row. He looked at my brother and I in our hats and chuckled and tossed it right to us! My brother caught it. Then, as they were taking everything down, Tom’s guitar tech, Jesus, came around and gave me a setlist! We were on such a high screaming, getting photos and whatnot.


Once we made it outside the venue, I had to wait for a couple of other people and while waiting numerous people came up to us saying they saw us on the big screen which was cool. We went home and listened to blink and just could not believe that had all happened. After standing around for 9+ hours that day, we said that we probably wouldn’t go for front row barricade again (now the second time we’ve done that) because nothing would live up to the setlist and Travis’ stick.


Song Highlights:

Feelin This – Welcome back to the opener. I do love hearing other songs as openers, but I just think Feelin This only really works in that opening spot. Gets the crowd going and is just the perfect culmination of all of them as a band.

Aliens Exist – While normally towards the end of my list of songs I’d like to hear live, the production during this one is insane. The cryo mixed with the lasers is top tier and I truly love the double-time drumming that Travis does during “I got an injection… “

Not Now – I’m just so happy to hear this one live again. Supposedly there are some sentimental photos on the screen during this, but I wasn’t looking. It doesn’t hit well live, but I’m too selfish to ever let it go off of the setlist.

More Than You Know – This one just RIPS live and it’s a top 2 song for me off OMT and top song for the band in general. It was cool to see Travis’ double kick pedal one night when he was facing directly away. I just love Tom’s delivery.


Overall, this tour was epic and it was great hearing the new songs live because I only got Edging at my shows last year. I truly think Turpentine could work in a lot of places of other songs here and it was definitely missed. Loved the variety of songs they played last year, but love hearing the new songs this year. Still on a high!

Seeing them in KC in a week, and not interested in the openers. Sorry if it has been asked, what time should we expect them to take the stage? Seems like 9?

 

If the show starts at 7 their set starts at 9.

Zero doubt in my mind this gets delayed. Just how it goes.

 

I have no reason to believe it’s gonna be delayed, they’ve said august on numerous occasions.

 

A lot of popular deluxe albums come out within a weeks notice I wouldn’t be shocked if they do the same

 

The Grammy stuff puts it on a slight deadline I think.
