This is like the third time I’ve seen this today and every time I keep waiting for it to become a trailer for a horror movie. I guess in a way it is.

 

No pathway to citizenship is terrible. I guess I am not inherently against funding border protection, but giving no other option is really shitty.

This is just so unnecessary lol like, no one who lists the border as their main concern (which imo is really just a symptom of being bored) is ever going to vote for a democrat or pay any attention to anything actually going on at the border.

So the only logical takeaway to me is, damn the democrats must really want the same things Trump does at the border.

 

I think you might be surprised on just how many swing voters there actually are in this country. Doesn't make sense to me at all, especially as the MAGA platform has gotten more extreme, but there are a lot of them out there.

 

There are plenty of swing voters. But i believe most of them vote based on their perception of the economy, followed then by their personal sensibilities, like is Hilary crooked or is Trump a criminal or is Biden senile. I don’t think that many people who are diehard about the border are winnable for the Dems. I believe the border is mostly a dogwhistle.

Could be true, for sure. But I could see a world in which a swing voter gets scared by anecdotes of crime by undocumented immigrants. I imagine they have some reliable data on this, but it's going to be really weird a bumpy as they navigate being very progressive domestically and center-right on foreign policy. I guess we'll see how it works in November.
