I feel like the Republicans of the 90's/2000's were so good at coding their language of hatred for people. Now it's just screaming WE DONT WANT A BLACK PERSON and WOMEN SHOULDN'T HAVE RIGHTS, and it's really not going over very well to 70% of people.

It was never going to, 2016 was an absolute fluke for those people and the backlash against that kind of rhetoric was inevitable, as the GOP has had no real electoral victories ever since.

As a guy who will almost certainly not be voting for the Dems, here’s my impression of the veepstakes:

    - Whitmer, Waltz, and Pritzker seem like they’re at least good at using their positions to make overtures to Dem voters

    - Bashear and Cooper seem like complete blank canvases designed to be folksy. Bashear seemingly could help neutralize some of Vance’s appeal, but I feel like JD will do that on his own the more people are exposed to his horrible personality (btw, I was calling like 7 years ago the trajectory of that dude’s career and it’s why people should always listen to me on politics)

    - Pete and Newsom would be both horrible picks strategically and are two guys I’d rather never hear from again (Newsom also there’s no chance he’d ever get picked, but I know he’s on the short list)

    - Kelly and Shapiro are guys that probably do help her win but also cosmically suck on actual policies

    - Not gonna happen, but make Shawn Fain the VP pick and I’ll vote for Kamala

Just putting myself in the mind of a cynical opportunistic DNC operative: there is no way they don't pick Kelly and skip out the chance to milk media sympathy from the Gabby Giffords story every chance they can.

I'm really disturbed by people in here "not voting for Dems" and willing to hand this country to Trump.

46 point difference between these polls despite essentially polling the same age group between the same period of time

    make it make sense

It's gonna be noisy for a little bit. Probably won't get solid polling for a couple weeks. There's been too much change recently to make it consistent.

I was one of those people until recently so I am not going to knock anyone for it. There is a lot of factors they play into it. The more solid red/blue your state is the more comfortable you are not having to compromise out of legit fear.

It's fine, just as long as you don't shame or discourage the people who are voting tactically.

  19. Does Kamala even need to speak. Seems like everyone is doing her campaigning for her.

There is a long, long history of this point being debated in this thread. Happy to share the perspective of someone not voting for either of these parties if you’re interested in knowing why many of us feel that way, but if you’re not then I won’t waste your time in elaborating.

I'm not saying I know any better, but these scream bots to me that are doing this. That's not how anyone in the real world acts, and I'm not doing the whole 'touch grass' thing, but this feels like a particular toxic byproduct of twitter, and a reason to not be on it. Blue MAGA is just not a real thing in every day life.

Sure I'm interested. And I supposed I do understand not being pumped about Israel-Palestine or just being in a state where generally a vote doesn't make a difference, but my personal repulsion to Trump and the entire Republican party still makes it hard to understand for me.
