My wife had never seen Scary Movie, so we just watched the first two films over the past couple of nights, so kind of funny to see that story just now. The first has some decent gags, but the second film is absolutely bare.

They’re proper “13 year old boy sleepover” films, which I’m pretty sure was how I watched them originally.

 

I only saw the one that did a spoof on Signs. Thought it was funny

 

First 3 are all pretty great for different reasons imo. I’ve seen parts of 4 but it was very “Jump the shark”ish and I never saw 5 and thought the previews looked dumb as hell.

Bring back the Wayans brothers too and I could be down for 6.

We are back for round 3 of the Chorus FM weekly movie club

Same rules as last time, everyone one is welcome! Post in the thread if you want to join in.
It's a new list, previous participants won't be included unless they post to join round 3

Rules for picking your movie:
1.It must be easily available. That means a popular streaming service and/or digital rental. No one is buying some import DVD to watch it.
2. The film should be older than two years old. We don't need to repeat recent conversations.
3. The film should not be extremely well-known. There is no need to discuss a blockbuster like Avatar or a renowned canon masterpiece like Citizen Kane.

Each Monday will be a new recommendation from the chosen member. The next member will choose the movienext Monday.We will go in the order of the posted list and new members will be added to the bottom until we finish the list

The only decent Scary Movie is 3 because Zucker, douchebag that he is, at least brought in some fundamentally-sound slapstick.

 

Stumbled upon a link for Jia Zhangke’s complete filmography (not including his film from this year which premiered at Cannes), including his short films, which I wanted to share here;

He’s probably the most interesting contemporary Chinese filmmaker, and throughout his career has been brilliant at depicting the rapid modernisation of China, and who gets left behind because of that.

If you haven’t seen any of his films, I’d really recommend starting with 2018’s Ash Is The Purest White and exploring from there.

I’ve only seen one of his short films, so looking forward to seeing more of what they’re like!

I’ve never played the games* but am unsurprisingly planning to watch the movie.


* technically I have played some Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, because the way my one friend described it sounded very funny; unfortunately, I’m shit at those kinda games (terribly uncoordinated) and didn’t get far at all

 

They are clearly trying to make a guardians type movie and it’s going to bomb so hard.

 

I don't think Jack Black throwing KG under the bus will affect its box office any more than the terrible trailers, but it is pretty funny how heavy the promotion was of him being the voice of the robot and how that has fallen through.
